I self medicated for about 18 months (I know naughty).  I have now gone legit and have a prescription for hormones.  I have also had several sessions of LHR which left me with a hairless chin.

Since geting my prescription, which is for a very low dose of eostrogen with no testosterone blocker, I have noticed the return of some facial hair which really bugs me.  My body ahir seems to be growing faster and thicker.  I have akso noted that I am not on the form of eostrogen favoured by the gender clinic but standard female HRT.

Is this normal or is my GP cutting corners?

My GP told me straight away that she is not qualified to give me advice on hrt. She referred me to an endocrinologist. I'm not saying your doctor is or isn't qualified but I would get a second opinion from an endo' just to be on the safe side.
Watching the birds made me feel like taking a journey. The people, the landscapes, everything was imperfect but beautiful.

My own GP knows zero about HRT. I've always relied on my gender specialist for doses. I'd ask them.

I go to an endo, she knows and adjusts my doses and checks everything. My GP knows her and down right says. Believe your Endo, I'm a GP.

With no respect lost!!!

I'd totally tell her if she didn't put me back on my old dose I'm going to do it myself. My endo didn't lower my dose when I was self medicating. She didn't do any tests to see where your levels were at first?
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

My endocrinologist totally didn't check levels, in fact I've never had them checked. When I asked about it, he said "Yeah sure you can if you want, but it's a waste of money / not really important right now". He said it takes a while to flood the cells with E and that it doesn't really matter to check until you've been on HRT for some amount of time... He thinks levels are irrelevant at first because the body holds on to testosterone.

I trust him- and no complaints at all when he popped the question "So how many pellets do you want? You can choose between 2-13". Starting out, I chose 7- when I began HRT in December. April 1st I have my second appointment for pellet implantation. Things have been going really well so I'm going to go up a bit more- probably 10 or 11 pellets.

I'm sure sometime soon I'll get the levels checked, but he didn't seem concerned about it at all starting out. He has been described to me by my therapist as a "maverick" <- lol. I dig it.
