Hi everyone and its been lovely reading through the forums and all the interesting articles on your site. I'm a mature man who has preferred kilts all my life to trousers because of the fantastic feeling I get from them and the reaction of others to a kilted gent.
Having said all that I'm not entirely sure that my being here is appropriate since the entire site membership seems to consist of tv/ts/tg/cd/so and I dont really fit into these slots exactly although my reason for joining the site is that I am at a point in life where I admire and agree with the commitment that everyone here has given to their lifetime desires and the way they have gone about putting it all into practise together with the way in which you all are helping each other.
I look forward to chatting with as many people as possible and trust that maybe in some small way I can give something to the site.

Welcome to this place!

I'm from Washington (state), USA, and it seems to be the fashion among some here in the Seattle area to wear kilts. There's a local company that makes and sells them (not sayin' their authentic or anything, but they are popular--and expensive!), and the men who wear them are certainly unique and stand tall as men, for who they are and what they want.

As long as you're not mean or a "hater", you're welcome to be here. Learning about us (or just admiring) are very cool things, imho.

Hi Gennee, and its nice to hear you would like to wear a kilt and I'm absolutely sure you would love it.
Its been one of the great things about being born in Scotland for me, the fact that I got to wear kilts from a very young age and through school. It was all part of the tradition.

The castles are lovely and the history attached to most is fascinating. I shall try to post some photos in due course for you to see. I actually live just 10miles from Culzean Castle which has as part of its history the fact that president Dwight D Eisenhower had a suite there which he used as a family retreat.

You look really nice and thankyou too for the welcome.

Hi Beth Andrea and thanks for the nice comments about kilts. There are a lot of modern kilts out there nowadays and they are becoming more popular here too. I have a plain black kilt for example which I wear quite often.

Im certainly not mean Beth and far from being a 'hater' I'm definitely a respector.

I think the firm who make the Utilikilt are around your area but Ive never been a great fan of these kilts. Still, they are better than trousers lol.

Ah, a discussion.  :)  And why be ye not a fan of these kilts, Kiltieman?

I don't wear kilts (I prefer skirts, myself), but I've admired the kilts since they came out. Just wondering your perspective, since you do like wearing kilts, but not *these* kilts.

Hi Kiltieman,

A warm and sunny welcome from South Africa.

So, please tell me, do Scotsmen really wear nothing under their kilts? ::)

Hi Maegan and thankyou for the nice welcome.

I cant possibly disclose whats worn under the kilt as its all part of the mystique and intrigue. :D
This would normally be confirmed by a gust of wind, or a careless sitting down, or maybe even a bit of vigorous highland dancing but the curious lady will normally check for herself. I'm sure you will find the answer one day :)
I bet the weathers much warmer where you are. First time Ive had a message from South Africa!

Regards and hugs too

Yes Beth I like to see ladies wearing skirts or dresses nowadays. Its nice to see the femminine touch still exists.
I dont have anything against the utilikilt and Ive no doubt people who wear them find them practical and comfortable. I just prefer the traditional Scottish kilt which is made from 5yards or 8yards of wool woven cloth in either a tartan or a plain design. I particularly like the way the kilt behaves ie it swings nicely when I walk and if worn just above the knee(the correct length in my opinion) it shows the legs off nicely. Also its a much softer material and better to wear. Much easier to sit with too!! ;D

Thats just my feelings on it but of course as you say, a discussion is always a good thing.
