Backing for W. Milford teacher, meeting draws crowd

More than 250 people showed up Tuesday night at a Board of Education meeting in support of popular history teacher Cheryl Bachmann, who is facing the loss of her job at West Milford High School. It was the second such turnout for her this month.

The dispute began after Bachmann was told in March that she was to be recommended for tenure. That decision was reversed last month after Bachmann sent two students from her classroom for using an anti-gay slur. Administrators have said teachers cannot send students out of the room every time they act inappropriately.

I'll bet if a student dropped the "n-bomb" in class, THAT student would be ushered out by his lapels. If not shot by one of the other students. This just proves that there is an institutionalized prejudice against queers in how the laws and rules are interperated in this country. Like the deep south, people of a generation have been using some slurs so long, that they neglect to see that it is insulting a degrading to a group of people.
