Think I'm starting to lose my hair

Every time I touch my hair, or comb it, a lot of it falls out. This is new--just started within the past two weeks. I'm pretty sure it is hair loss, because I've had long hair before, and while there was always hairs that would come out when I brushed it or whatever, this seems totally different.

It's about time, honestly--I don't think my hairline has changed much in the 20 or so months I've been on T. But, I can't tell if this is just my hairline receding or if I'm genuinely going bald. It's too soon to tell, but for the guys who've experienced either/or--what do you think?

Yeah. Hair loss is a genetic crap shoot. My dad had full blown MPB, and got that way when he was in his late 20s. My mom's adopted so we don't know what kind of history she has on her side of things. I've got a receding hairline and some thinning hair, but otherwise I haven't lost too much comparatively. I'm hoping that HRT will help reverse some of that, but I'm not going to lose sleep if it doesn't. This is one of those things that you're at the mercy of your genetics so if you're going to go bald. do it with grace. Do it like Patrick Stewart.

Sexy, sexy Patrick Stewart. Mmmmm. :icon_redface:

I could never rock that cueball look. My forehead's too round, it'd look weird. If I am genuinely balding I'm going to let what I've got left grow to unfathomable lengths and try for the aging rock star thing. Probably nobody's definition of graceful--but that's my gameplan!

I'm just curious to know whether having so many loose strands falling out of my head is a sign that I'm seriously going bald or my hair pattern is just becoming more male and will calm down after awhile.

This morning I had the same exact thought. I was laying on my bed studying and just playing with my hair for a bit, and see a ton fall out. Now I'm worried. I have really nice hair, lots of volume to it, and now I saw about 40-50 hairs fall out. I mean, I know it's normal. Hopefully it'll calm down after a while. My hairline is still feminine, as I'm only 4 months on T

Yeah, since I'm going the other way I have no idea on what that means. It could mean that tomorrow you'll look like Telly Savalas, or it could mean nothing at all. I know that for me it was really slow, but I know that for others it was really quick. Again, it's all about the crap shoot called genetics. I don't know how T affects hair loss in trans men, but if it's anything like how it affects cis men, look to your mother's side of the family, and that'll give you a good idea of the possible outcomes.

i think its normal for your hair to thin out a little. You have to lose some hair to achieve a male hairline. I have some minor hair loss in the front so I wear bangs a little longer than some guys.
