You are personally responsible if a website that hosts an image you posted is compromised. I banned a user today because an image they posted came from a site that ended up compromised. That user will remain banned until they contact me for reinstatement. My suggestions are simple.

  • Do not post images from web sites you don't personally control.
  • Review old posts from time to time to ensure that all images continue to load properly.
  • Remove images that no longer exist from your posts.

I won't appreciate coming online and finding out that my site was flagged for malware as a result of something you posted be it 5 minutes ago or 120 days ago. You have been warned.

For those who are wondering, the malware in question was never on this site; but because we had an image that was served from an infected site they flagged my page as well. Unless you tried to load the broken image in question manually in your browser you would not be infected.

Shoot - I'm kinda bad about slashandburn image posting... reckon I was unaware of the risks, but will certainly be more vigilant.
I ain't scared... I just don't want to mess up my hair.
