Ok girls. I am using the generic rogain stuff for my hairline. I have the M forehead, and I have noticed it tingling and I realized this evening that there is a crap tone of white start up hairs now all over the sides of my M line and then some. I assume this is the start of a beautiful friendship with my hair. I am not to hrt yet. Any suggestion to help this along in the interim?  I am sure this has probably been covered before (ba dum bum bump) But I couldn't find the thred on this specific aspect. Thanks in advance, and have a happy Ishtar weekend! :-*

I have this, as of a few weeks ago. I'm hoping it's a positive indication. :)

Same here, after being on Finasteride in addition to my HRT regiment, and I'm really obsessing over them. Are they really going to grow? How long is it going to take? Etc, etc, etc. All this waiting and uncertainty is driving me nuts!

I have noticed the same thing.  And I have been on HRT for 5 years.  Maybe, finally, it is coming back.

Not to burst anyone bubbles, also I'm not expert in this field.  But people who are bald still have very fine hairs, in it's replacement.  It's my understanding, when DHT affects the hair it doesn't get rid hair follicle, it just miniaturize it over time.  So, when someone is bald, if you look really closely, you can still see their miniaturized hairs.   It has this peach fuzz look to it, but it is still there.

Not to say that you should give up hope, or stop using minoxidil.  Because, there still a chance it's working, and if you stop now you'll lose any progress you have.  Also another glimpse of hope for balding individuals out there, Histogen has partnered with an executive management and working on commercializing their product.  For those unfamiliar with Histogen.  It's a company that has been working with embryonic technology to grow those miniaturized hair follicle into dormant ones.  They've been working on this for 6 years now and are on the 2/3 phase of their clinical trials.  So, get ready for a big step in hair restoration soon.

Consider my parade rained on. :(

I keep hearing about upcoming 'miracle cures' for baldness... If someday such a thing arrives, well. Suffice to say MtFs all over the world will rejoice.

The best miracle cure for my early onset MPB that I've found is a wig  ;D

In February of 2012 I started using generic Minoxidil – 5%, topical on the top of a rather depressing bald area.  We are talking close to pool ball bald – like more area bald than hairy.  Little white hairs came in and I got fuzzy.  Then, most of them fell out by May 2012.  The ones that didn't, kept growing.  Then, got new fuzz, most of which fell out by September but some of that crop kept growing.  Then, another round of fuzz but this time, I got fuzz in more areas.  Most of that fell out in December.  January, even more fuzz and started HRT mid-January.  None of that has fallen out.

Now, I just had another short haircut last Thursday night.  Like a US Marine Corp "high and tidy" close cut (looks better when lots of hair is missing and easier for a wig).

1. Hair is thicker where I didn't loose hair.
2. The bald area is smaller with good hair growth on top about 1" around the dome.
3. I have about ¼ the hair on my remaining bald area that I have in the area that didn't loose hair
4. I have a lot of fuzz and quite a number of regular hairs in that old bald area.

My lack of hair is still noticeable but I'm not shinny any more and new growth has been commented on by others. I am cautiously optimistic that I may actually get quite a bit of hair.  However, I now have enough hair and with the bald area being smaller, a hair transplant just might work.

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.
