I know that no one has written in this thread for a while but I'd really like to get it active again!

I'd be curious to hear if any of you attend anime conventions and if you do, which ones? ;D
Personally I always try to attend Tracon in Finland and Skecon in Sweden because these are among my current favorite events! One day I really want to go to cons in other European countries as well as cons in USA and Japan! Japan Expo in Paris is one of those that I plan to attend in a near future, it seems so huge and awesome!

Oh and I also want to give a thumbs up and mention that I've fairly recently made a cosplay page over at Facebook, so all cosplay fans who feel interested can go and like me over there to follow my cosplay adventures! :D

King Malachite

I haven't went to any anime conventions, but it is my dream to go.  I plan on going to Anime Expo one day after I get my top surgery.  I've been wanting to go since 2012.
Feel the need to ask me something or just want to check out my blog?  Then click below:

Yes. A funny thing is that the current president of my country (Park Geun-hye, S. Korea) does the cosplay of the president, not the duties of the president. The following photo appeared in her facebook cover last year for a kind of thanksgiving day:

She seems to think she is a kind of fashion model, although she is 63 years old:

Just do it.

im generally too poor to be tossing money into a costume, but in spite of that, i have a working Joker costume (purple jacket, vest, green hairspray, sloppy clown makeup), a white hoodie (assassin desmond ?), and, partials for a star trek borg, and a star wars mandalorian... the latter two of which i may never finish.

I've always wanted to do this stuff! But life always says no, sadly. I'm 31 now, and a furry for 15ish years, so you would think I'd be all over that, but I've never had the opportunity to so this sort of thing. I'd love to dress as Fio from Metal Slug ;)

I wanted to, but my sister kept knocking me down. "You don't have the patience to produce a quality costume." "You're too detail-oriented, you'll just spend forever on it and never finish it." "You're a perfectionist - perfectionists have no place in the world of cosplay."

...so I never did.

Can you now? What would you dress as if you could?

Money's the only thing holding me back at this point. But if I could - I have no idea. I let all that condescending talk get to me, and it pretty much voided me of ideas.

"You're a perfectionist - perfectionists have no place in the world of cosplay."
What? Perfectionists are the best cosplayers actually cause they actually care about what they're doing, unlike throwing a bucket on your head and calling it a costume. An eye for detail makes the best costumes, they are the most accurate looking and shows the person cares about what they're doing. That was a stupid thing to say its so the opposite

I am a perfectionist, if its not as close as I can get it then its not good enough for me. I have more place in it than people who dont care do. I dont have the skill to make my own costumes, I dont even know how to sew.. but anything I buy/commission has to be the best I can find. Yes its expensive to do that and I understand those who use cheaper costumes and stuff if they cant afford it Im not putting them down. I just hate this attitude that its bad to be good..? No it isnt. Being a perfectionist doesnt mean you never finish anything, another myth. I might not get things 100% perfect but I know when I've done the best I can and I leave it at that. Why should you let someone with that attitude stop you from doing something. People who act that way just come across as jealous to me. Cant do something themself so they try prevent anyone else from doing it too

I have no patience to produce my own costume or anything like that but I would really love to cosplay as Serena from Pokemon XY. I have no idea where to get a costume though.

I love cosplay. Done multiple different characters. Newest and fav - Loki

The rightful King of Asgard

Its just the cheap rubies costume (which is actually from Thor the Dark World) for now until I can afford a $600 commission. I want his Avengers king costume with cape and full armor. Missing my scepter too. Going to try making it myself. If it turns out crap then I'll have to buy one

Top surgery soon plz..

I had to give a presentation as a part of one of the papers I was doing so I dressed as a bard/storyteller which made everyone's jaw drop.  I don't have any photos unfortunately, but some of the students in my class were a little annoyed with me for pushing the bar up a few notches.

ok I need to stop using that image host.. constantly using up bandwith within days.. Reupload of those ones again as I cant edit the post:

I've found some items on amazon that will make a halfway decent approximation of a Pokemon XY Sabrina costume. The hat is made specifically for a costume for her. I found a skirt that was almost a perfect match, but the comments all said it runs small and so a large wouldn't work. I'll probably be ordering everything in the next couple of paychecks.

Cosplay is a lot of fun, though a bit too expensive for me at the moment. I only have two costumes that I wear to conventions. I have an Attack on Titan costume (with a full set of 3D maneuver gear I made myself), and a 10th Doctor outfit from Doctor Who. The latter of the two was more expensive, since I didn't make it and the jacket was rather expensive.

I'd love to be able to do more cosplay in the future. Especially female characters (I think my Attack on Titan could be adapted quite easily for that, but for now I don't have the money to do anything new.

I might be taking my Doctor Who cosplay to Denver Comic Con next month. It depends on how hot it gets over there by then. A full wool overcoat that weighs like 7 or 8 pounds can be pretty awful in the summer.

It can be expensive thats a problem with it. Easier if you can make parts yourself to save costs

the Winter Soldier (Captain America):

Shirt is a stand in for now until I can get the proper parts. Can get the jacket and arm but not the vest, need to find someone to commission that

Upgraded Loki now I have armour parts

Just need my scepter now. Sick of my backgrounds so Im going to get a background backdrop so I can have them plain or easier photoshop a background in

Im also terrible at getting wigs to sit right on me so need to work on that

Top surgery soon plz..

Garry,

Where do you find all the stuff for your outfits? They seem quite extensive so I'm curious where you find the materials? Do you fabricate them all or are they pre-made costumes?

Your Loki is great by the way.

I decided to try something new for Denver Comic Con. I found a hat and trench coat at a thrift shop that I think will work perfectly for a Rorschach costume from Watchmen. I just need to use some Rit Dye to turn them the right shade of brown. I also found this really neat stuff called thermo-dynamic dye that reacts to the heat of your breath. I think with the right application I can give my mask the illusion of having moving inkblots  ;D

The best part is, assuming I can find a cheap material that I can see through for the mask, I should be able to complete the whole outfit for less than $40.
