For the past year I've been so confused about therapy and the whole process dealing with HRT and my mother knows nothing about it so she wouldn't help me find a therapist in the area or give me significant insight on funding except that "it's really expensive." This just left me unmotivated and even considering self-medicating.
So I decided to get my priorities straight and research candidates for therapists and I finally found one I am super happy with! He's very down to earth and explained to me over the phone everything in blunt detail and I loved that. It's not going to be too expensive and I'm going to talk to my mother about helping me pay for my first few sessions and I'll pay her back as soon I get a job. (Yes, I have even been applying for jobs just to pay for my transition!) My first consultation will be as soon as I get the funds in the next few weeks!
So the moral of the story is sometimes you just have to dive in by yourself and be independent because sometimes you can get great results!

Never be afraid to ask questions, either.
