Henna

Just wanted to share, that I started HRT today!!

Unfortunately, this is DIY, even when it's with prescription and from pharmacy, it's still completely outside of our official treatment system. The system here just is such, that it can take a year and a half to get to the point, that you are starting HRT with official permission. If you ever get permission from our rather arbitrary system.

Don't worry, I'm careful and I work in pharmaceutical/health care field myself so I do know the risks with medications.

I'm just happy, it's like a big rock has fallen off from my heart. People seem so nice too. This morning while getting my labs done, the nurse there was a bit confused why I wanted such lab values to be taken and without any referral from a doctor.

When I told her, she seemed genuinely happy for me and wished all the best for the future!

I am excited for you!!  I imagine that must be a great feeling.  I am envious :)

Just as a disclaimer, please do make sure you are safe with DIY.  You seem level headed and aware, so I am sure you are know about the complications that can arise.  But at the very least try to monitor everything as best as you can.

I'm from Finland and the only way to get diagnosed and referred to HRT, is via our public health care system, which is sloooow in all indication areas, not just TS.

But yeah, I'm starting very slowly and monitoring myself. I certainly don't wish to harm myself now, when there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel.

It is amazing feeling, I still have a hard time of understanding that after all these years, this is really true.

Oh, I have heard about Scandinavian issues. You might have an excellent social security system, but it is bound to fail at some  times :(.  Sweden is even worse - as far as I have heard. And btw "neighbour" - cheers from other side of the Baltics :) If You ever come to Riga, give me PM :) And we do have two clinics here which provide SRS too at quite a decent price :)

Aww, thanks all! Means a lot all the good wishes.

Sammy, I will definitely let you know if I come to Riga. I've been there few years ago and it's not really a bad idea perhaps in summer to come there to do some shopping  :)

Latvia as a country unfortunately is one where I haven't for some reason traveled much. Estonia and Lithuania are more familiar to me.

Let me know if you ever come to Helsinki.
