Oh, hello, my name is Lucas.
I'm not very good at introductions or anything so I'm very sorry for this, oh dear.

I'm 19 years of age, and I have known since I was a very small child that I did not feel right in the body I was born with.
I only recently got up the courage to tell my partner and my best friend, and they have been wonderfully supportive.
I am afraid to tell my family, we do not have a good relationship at the best times, and I fear what would happen.
I really would like to start making more discrete physical changes soon though.
As for things I do and enjoy, well I am currently at a college for art, and will be going to university to study psychology soon.
I hope in the future to become a therapist to help people, it's all I've ever wanted. I get great joy from helping people!
I have lived in England my entire life, however I would love to travel more some day.

I thought about joining this website a long time ago, but was much too shy... I've gotten to the stage in my life now where I don't want to stay stagnant, I want change and answers and I have so many questions to ask, and would love to make some friends along the way.

I'm happy to meet you all.  :)

Edit: Oh, also, this is going to sound very silly, I'm sorry, but is there anyway to modify your username once you've signed up? :(
I didn't realise it was case sensitive and now I'm getting really irritated by my own username, gosh I'm pretty ridiculous, I apologise. :(
If anyone knows how that would be lovely, thank you. :(

The main things to remember in life are Love, Kindness, Understanding and Respect - Always make forward progress

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

Oh, thank you for your welcomes both of you, and thank you for your help too, it's very kind of you. :)
I looked through those links too, I didn't know much about ranks before so that was very helpful!
As for screen names, well I think I can be patient and just try variations for myself when I get to 15 posts, it's not too far away. Thank you very much for offering your help though.   :D

Hi Lucas,

Welcome, I was born and raised in Liverpool in the UK before being transported to Australia (Hee Hee).

Where abouts are you?

Hello Cindy!
I live in the West Midlands, quite close to Birmingham. I've really only lived in this one area my whole life, pretty boring really!
I'd love to visit Australia someday. :)
How does it differ from the UK? Aside from the wildlife, I guess

Hi

I was nearly arrested in Birmingham many years ago! I was visiting a business and stopped for lunch at a pub, I needed the loo som left my sandwich, drink and suitcase at the table while I went for a pee. When I came back the police where there, the place had just opened after being bombed by the IRA several months previously. Boy did I get chewed!!! I was lucky!!

Australia is far more laid back and tolerant than the UK was, that I remember. In trans* care light years ahead but still not good. Excellent anti-discrimination law. Very positive public acceptance of gender differences. Beut climate (29C today in Adelaide and it's beginning of winter). So far avoided the GFC, relaxed life style and lots to do sport and culture wise.

Down sides: Massive differences between places, I laughed last time I was in the UK because people thought I was crazy driving from Liverpool to London for a few days site seeing, it took about two hours, it can take two or three days to drive to Perth from Adelaide, safely and not commercial driving.

Terrible discrimination to our Aboriginal population which seems unsolvable.

Can get very hot. Adelaide usually has a few weeks touching 45C. A long way to the USA or Europe.

But to be honest it is great, a very easy place to live.

Oh dear that does sound unfortunate! It was an honest mistake though. Luckily I've never had anything like that in Birmingham, although I had a sort of similar moment when I got lost in a French airport.
To this day I have no idea why the area I was walking down was deserted but I did get tapped on the shoulder by a very large man with a very large gun. I got a stern lecture in French, which I didn't understand a word of, and then was pointed in the right direction...  :-X

Sounds like a wonderful place! Maybe a bit hot for me though, I can barely tolerate the pathetic English summers
Although I'd heard about the discrimination towards the Aboriginal people... It's a real shame, but I that's a problem a lot of countries original inhabitants face, I think. :(
Still, it sounds great. I'd love to stay for a while some day. :D

Hi lucasr, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 10875. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another member.
