I have heard now from 2 transfolk as well as 2 councelors and doctors a certain catch phrase that gets sent around. I have even found myself using it and I don't know why.

The phrase "authentic you" or "be your authentic self" keeps coming up in certain circles.

Was there like a book or a manual or something that got people so start saying this to refer to transfolk?

I've never heard that phrase used.  It must be something specific to your area.

I'm not the "authentic you(me)" I'm just me(you).
Nameless here for evermore!;  Merely this, and nothing more;
Tis the wind and nothing more!;  Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore!!"

My therapist introduced me to that concept a few months back. There is an entire school of philosophy around that. I think it is Kierkegaard but I could be wrong.

Wiki "authenticity" and you will get a good overview.

That's the latest incarnation of that piece of nonsense. When I was younger it was Be Yourself.

OK, How do I not be myself?

How do I be someone else?

I really fancy being,... Cindy. OK, tell me how to be Cindy because if it is possible for me to not be myself, to not be authentic, then by logical progression, it must be possible for me to be other people.

And right now, I kinda fancy being a super popular Ozzi, living somewhere it's actually warm.

New to me, this is the first time I have heard of it.

I do think of my earlier life as the time when I was a fake male though.

Authentic me sounds like I have the capacity to be fake at will.
Well being TG is no treat, but becoming separated has sure caused me more trouble that being TG ever will be. So if I post, consider it me trying to distract myself from being lonely, not my needing to discuss being TG. I don't want to be separated a lot more than not wanting to be male looking.

It's hard work being me Hon.  Having fun, being happy and living in paradise. It's tough, but someone has to do it >:-)

It is a buzzphrase from the "Landmark (Forum) Education" group. That is all I'll say. Look it up if you want to know more.

Oh, Erhard Seminar Training.
