The purpose of this thread is to describe or list  activities or something that you do to cheer yourself up when you feel sad or lonely. Transitioning is tough and inevitably some of us will slip into negative thoughts or sadness from time to time, but there is so much more to life than being trans and experiencing negative things that can occur because of it. I notice there is a lot of this on the forum and think we should try to help find ways to lift the spirit of others when they are in need.  Therefore, I want us to share positive and fun activities we enjoy in order to help our brothers/sisters who are going through a tough time.  This way they may learn about, discover, or appreciate a new happy pass time that may make them feel better.

Reading- Personally, since I was a kid, I love to read whatever I can get my hands on.  I am mainly read non-fiction, but fiction is really fun as well.  When you read non-fiction you get to learn something new and expand your knowledge base.  Whenever I feel a little lonely or bored, I am happy to spend it in a productive manner where I can better myself.  IF you prefer fiction, that is a great way to escape from everything.

Listening to music/playing classical guitar- So, I am a huge music nerd and have always escaped into my own world whenever I listen to music.  I can't explain it, but music is almost a spiritual experience to me.  It has the ability to lift me up and make me feel a million times better.  I also enjoy playing classical guitar (not well) and it is a very fun hobby to take on when you have some down time.

Videogames-  So, there is a lot to be said about how time consuming gaming can be.  But it is also a fun way to spend time when you feel lonely or down.  Gaming can make you feel like you have achieved something or at the very least can provide you with some entertainment when you are in need of it.

Writing-  I love to write and create my own stories.  I'm not good at it, yet it is very fun and a great way to open your mind to new ideas.  This can be very fun and rewarding in the long run.   I myself have even attempted to write two non-fiction books, but never completed them.  Hopefully, that will one day change.

Talking to loved ones- Having a meaningful conversation with a family member or personal friend can really have a profound impact on you.  Sometimes you just have to reach out and open up.  But once you do, you have someone to bond and share your worries with.  Even if you don't want to talk about your problems, just having someone around to do something with is really nice.  It makes you feel human.  Remember we are a social animal.

So, what things or activities cheer you up when you feel lonely or down?  It can be trans related, but I avoided that because some people need an escape from the difficulties of transitioning.  And if you are feeling down, please try one of the suggestions listed here and see if it cheers you up :)

Losing myself in nature/forests and writing/reading :)
Watching the birds made me feel like taking a journey. The people, the landscapes, everything was imperfect but beautiful.

I like to educate myself or do something creative when I feel kind of blah. It snaps me right out of it.

Lately I've been looking at fashion/makeup/feminization tips and designing new furniture for my room :)

Our cat without a doubt. I don't know how or why but pets seem to have some sixth sense when it comes to their owner's moods. Our cat tends to curl up all close to me while purring loudly, as if he's saying "it's gonna be alright, look how happy I am". You can't really be sad when that happens. :D

Continuing kinda in the same category, animal pictures and videos. Usually those with cats and dogs.

And from the video category we get to certain videos in Youtube. I usually have very bad mood day before my T shot but the videos by glowpinkstah always manage to cheer me up, especially her makeup tutorials. I don't even do makeup but I still love that stuff, they're so hilarious!
