http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/18/casey-legler-vogue-feature_n_3109206.htmlA woman working as a male model sounds like a pretty niche job. But model Casey Legler is getting noticed by all the major tastemakers in fashion -- including Vogue.
Legler, who made headlines for being the first woman signed to Ford Models' male division, is featured in the May 2013 issue of Vogue under the headline "Gender Agenda." The article focuses on fashion's newfound propensity for "gender-flipping" and how designers and models are blurring the lines of gender and sex, of male and female. Legler is just the latest example, Vogue writes, following in the footsteps of models like Andrej Pejic, Lea T and Saskia de Brauw.
Legler, of course, is in a category of her own, in that she is a woman working exclusively as a "male model" -- and that she didn't start as a female model first. She tells the magazine, "I happen to be a woman -- sheer luck of the biological roulette -- who has the great privilege to engage the ways in which gender signifiers can be liberated."

Ford's Female 'Male Model', Casey Legler, Lands A Vogue Feature!

http://www.styleite.com/media/casey-legler-vogue-may-2013/#0There aren't many models out there that can say they scored their first Vogue shoot at age 36, but then Casey Legler is not most models. After posing as a favor for a photographer friend, the former Olympic swimmer became the first woman ever to sign to Ford's male model division late last year. Not only did she start booking jobs in no time flat, but Legler also made headlines for her convention-flouting looks and refreshing attitude towards gender and the fashion industry. Now, it looks like our favorite model of the moment can even count Anna Wintour as a fan.
Legler pops up in the May issue of Vogue, photographed by Daniel Jackson for a feature called "Gender Agenda", and even though it isn't her first appearance in the Condé Nast title (the French edition scored her in March) it's an undeniably big coup for the model, especially since the glossy isn't exactly known for their casting diversity.
