I have a friend, she's only sixteen and her parents aren't on board with her starting e so we can't make use of our lgbt center. She's been living female for over a year and is definitely ready to start hormones, she even has saved up money to buy them. she just needs bloodwork done, and I have no idea if she needs any special paperwork of where to get it.

we are in California for future reference. anyone know of how to aquire papers?

She can get the blood tests thru a GP or internist. You don't need anything special.
This site tells what blood tests are typical done for state of the art health care.
There's also other info:

If she know what tests she needs and how to interpret the results, she can arrange for the tests here:

The actual labwork is done by LabCorp which has many local locations.

my question is why can't she utilize the LGBT center?

She can't utilize the center because she isn't 18 and her parents won't let her start hormones because they aren't ready for that yet, but she's been distraught because her voice is changing and her muscular structure is changing, and she's depressed over that.

She is in no immediate danger, her parents would never hurt her and if they did she can and will take care of herself. If she gets kicked out, she has NUMEROUS places to go and she's also trying to get emancipated.

Basically, her parents aren't ready for her to start, but it really isn't their life and the changes that are happening to her naturally aren't reversible.

Thank you so SO much everyone! I will let her know right away!
