Charlotte Steffen-Ramirez, the defense attorney for Adams, said that Armstrong and Adams had a sexual relationship and that her client left the trailer that night after the Armstrong had passed out from drinking and using drugs. Steffen-Ramirez claimed that Armstrong's brother-in-law, Dennis Duff, had cause to commit the murder because he was upset that Armstrong was a cross-dresser.
