Hello,

I've been visiting this forum for a while and since I am getting on the road to make change myself in order to be in line with my inner self (aka mtf therapy :)) I thought it would be a good idea to join and give contributions to this community.

I am 28 year old and I live in the Netherlands. I made contact with 2 institutions. One is large medical hospital (waiting time-12+ months!) and the other one is a smaller support organization who can support and direct transgendered people to the right medical people (if you get clearance). The first organization offers a complete package a mtf needs (counseling, insurance and everything), everything is done for you. With the other one you have to coordinate your own mtf traject (you have to do more of it yourself (insuranc etc) but the waiting time is shorter (4-6 months).

In order to prepare myself I did what some people do. I ordered Spiro. I will not discuss the details of the order because it is against the rules.

Last night (dutch time) I took one pill just to test it (I would stay as is until a doctor told me it was safe to increase / take other medicine). I was surprised at the side effects.  I woke up after having a nightmare (for a short description about this dream, see below) and I felt my something was not right because I did not have to pee. Suddenly I was feeling warm and felt my heart rate slowly skyrocket. And my legs and arms began to twitch. Good thing was that I came prepared, as I took the medicine on a friday night. So in case of any issues/symptoms I had everything ready (the total hospital ride is about 5 minutes from getting my clothes, getting in my car to the emergency outpost).

As I was putting on my shoes and grabbed my coat I felt my heart going back to normal. The only thing I had was the shaking (like you're cold). I decided to wait because I thought the most worrying, the heart rate, was normal again. After about 30 minutes the shakes went away and I returned to bed to watch TV and see if the symptons returns. I noticed the shaking returning after about 15 minutes so I went to the hospital fearing that the increase in heart rate could return also. As soon as I arrived the shaking went away. I went in and spoke to the nurses who worked the night shift. She checked my pulse and said everything is fine. I mentioned what happened and she forwarded me to the local doctor. I told him what happened and he checked my blood pressure, checked my lungs and heart and could not find anything strange. At the end of the conversation I asked if the Spiro was the culprit and he told me that symptoms I had were not listed as official side effects and that I had a panic attack. I checked the symptoms of a panic attack and they seem to be very same thing I suffered.

This is diet yesterday:
-Apple
-Vitamin pil (which contain 100% of your daily vitamins/minerals needs)
-Breakfast can of tuna with 2 round bread these ones (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3076/3205975789_dc568cd78f.jpg)
-Coffie during the day
-Lunch 2 round bread with sausages
-Dinner Mcdonalds (because it sometimes I like to celebrate that it's weekend) 2 mc chickens, 2 fries, 1 chili wrap and a large coke.
I did not eat alot yesterday so i was very hungry  #ValidExcuseNr2 :).

I don't think these symptoms should occur with this low dosage on a person in good condition. Did I have a panic attack? Was it my diet? Was Spiro the cause. It sure looks like it.

If it was my diet I think the amount of salt in the mcdonald meal was too much. I don't think it was a panic attack because I did not even know what it exactly was (symptom wise, characteristics etc) but then again I am not a doctor.

Did someone experience this before?

Fun story:
Nightmare:there was a fiendish/extremely starved/zombie-like women chasing me in a sunny field filled with high grass, surrounded by frozen metal pipes (I'm drug free btw lol). But it was strange. The nightmare was preceded by a nice dream about me and some of my younger friends from when we were younger and camping/staying somewhere having fun. And then suddenly there was that nightmare. I hardly have nightmares but when I do have them, they're twisted for sure. Maybe it's compensation. I just hope that zombie lady was not a glimpse of my inner woman.

I also noticed I spelled my name wrong, yay! :embarrassed:
I accidentally mispelled my name :(

Hi, welcome to Susan's Place! I've cleaned up your post and thread title, we don't allow the posting of dosages. Here are our rules regarding HRT:

8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:

A. You may not advocate for or against a specific medication or combinations of medication for personal gain. This is strictly prohibited.

B. You may not discuss the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription. The discussion of self medication without a doctors supervision is prohibited.

C. The discussion of recommended or actual dosages is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

We can not in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

See you around the site, hugs, Devlyn

I was taken off spiro after two weeks because it just destroyed my electrolytes, si i doubt it was one pill.  i have had panic attacks and your description sounds like mine, except mine includes a need to flee where i am.  maybe it was the dream that trigered the attack.  Leigh Anne
