Odd title I know, but this weight regimen did really work for me while I did it. It's called a keto diet. Adkins is a version of keto, but for non-weight lifters. You basically cut out carbs extensively. I did 30 grams of carbs or less a day. This switches your body over to a state of ketosis, forcing your body to use fat instead of carbs for fuel. That's where the bacon comes in. Basically you eat a high fat, high protein diet. My eating habits consisted of bacon, sausage, eggs, cheese, ham, pork, other meats, and dark leafy greens in very modest proportions (veggies have carbs). Then after your last workout, you start a 24-30 hour carb up where you eat a ton of carbs- preferably clean. This enabled me to have a strict diet during the week and not let my social life on the weekends suffer. The first month I lost 2-3 pounds a week. This was combined with a 5x week lifting routine and maybe a day or two of cardio (fairly typical). Prior to this, I'd eat fairly clean, but never lose any weight, so this was a huge improvement.
I ended up getting off keto because personally, I hate eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese and other high fats meats. I just forced myself to eat them because I wanted to try this out. For me, it might be something I do intermittently in between just eating well, but for some of you, it may be something you can do long term.
There's tons f forums, especially on
