I found this form on google looking for more information on grs in montreal. Ok here is the thing. Iv already been approved for orchi surgery by Camh I even have a consultation appointment with a doctor in toronto. Iv also been cleared by a gastrointestinal specialist that I can get srs done. I'm just wondering if I should just go ahead with srs instead of the orchi. Since I was only getting a orchi because I was not sure if things were ok with my bowels. I had hirschsprung's disease as a child. I will be writing an email to Dr Nicola Brown about seeing if she can just send a referral to the clinic in Montreal. What if I get the orchi and wish I had got srs instead?.

Any advice would be great.

Hi Lana... from that other forum...  ;D

I'd just go for SRS.... but that's me. You really have to decide what's best for you. I mean is SRS something that you feel strongly about and do you think you would regret it later? If you were planning to get SRS down the road sometime... I'd just get it over with now, instead of waiting. 2 surgeries usually aren't better than 1.

Hi JennX

Knowing now that I can get srs I would much rather do that. It seems to me that more people are getting srs than not. I mean Iv been approved for the orchi so all they have to do is send a letter to montreal. I mean camh considers a orchi part of srs so there should not be any major problem hopefully.

You do know there's a difference, right?

An orchi leaves the primary male part, and SRS changes that part into a female part...

It depends on what you want (need) between your legs...if you're ambivalent, I'd suggest the lesser (and easier) of the two, an orchi.

Beth Andrea Yes I do know there is a difference. My post was more like what if I make a mistake and want srs instead of the orchi. Im kind of sick and tired of men putting me in the catagory of fetish and ->-bleeped-<- porn and men wanting to get it up the butt. I have yet to meet a man that wants anything else besides a sexual relationship.

Men fetishize "->-bleeped-<-s" (hate that word :P ) because they're "chicks with dicks." You'll still be fetishized by those same men because you'll still be that hot chick with a dick. So, if you want to get past that by having surgery, I don't think an orchi is your best bet. :)

That's a little different...you mentioned a medical problem before, not fetishistic men...

In my thinking, getting an orchi because of another medical issue (as opposed to being transsexual) is reasonable. Getting the whole she-bang (no pun intended...well, maybe a little... ;) ) brings in the possibility that you will regret losing that very valuable part of manhood.

It sounds like you want the penis gone because "Im kind of sick and tired of men putting me in the catagory of fetish and ->-bleeped-<- porn and men wanting to get it up the butt." Would you be ok with men who want to get it up a vagina? And you'll still have your butt (if they want to top).

It's important for you to know why you'd want such a major surgery, and that your reason is a good one for you.

I'm really not trying to be an ass, sorry if I come across that way...but you really want to know for sure that you, and only you, do not want the penis to have and to hold, for forever it will be gone. Not what others want, not what you want to withhold from men, not for any reason but you yourself.

Maybe answer this: With SRS you get a vagina...do you really want a vagina? There's also the option of having "nothing" done there but a pee-hole (I think that's eunick surgery). Just a thought.

Beth Andrea I think I would cry if I was left with a pee hole. No I do want a vi jaja. Its time I go that route. Being left with just a penis is not something I want for the rest of my life. And after reading as much as I have on here I it just confirms that its the way to go.

I had a heart to heart with my mom the other day and told her Its what I want. My father is on board as well as long as im happy.

To be clear, what I'm about to write I am not posting to suggest is something anyone should have but for information. There is an option often called "partial SRS" or "no cavity." The external genitalia are constructed but a vagina is not.

I had seriously considered this and actually wish I had done so. I allowed myself to be dissuaded by the heavy "never say never" and "you'll likely change your mind" common rhetoric against it in support places like this, plus that I was in emotional overload at the time.

???  I have never heard of this option before! I did not know it existed, where do I get any information please?   :)

Is it less expensive, do you heal faster? Is it easier?

I know Dr. Brassard offers it and it is listed in his surgery information packet. I do not have any further information about it, though. I would expect the recovery would be a bit easier as it is less invasive and I have heard rumors that it is cheaper but do not have any hard information on that.

well umm, lesbian here  ;D, no depth necessary, only externals needed and besides I haven't had a date in 10 years don't know if I will have one for the rest of my life if I never get surgery (at the rate I am going I may never be able to afford it before I die)
