Insurance covers this, doesn't cover that.

So I'm in the throws of getting my indoctrination into the world of Hearing Aids and during one session it was pointed out that only rarely are hearing aids covered in health insurance plans.  They then went on to describe all the negative impacts that come from being unable to hear well.

This sounded awfully familiar.

I got another post on here ARGGGGHH!ing about my tinnitus.  So, I would benefit from having Hearing Aids in my health plan.  But I'm OK with that exclusion, even though there have been some days I've had to leave work early because my ears were ringing so loud I couldn't do my job.  I've never unexpectedly missed a day of work due to a trans thing.  Yet, I'm okay with Hearing Aids being uncovered but when I find out that I can't get coverage for any part of my transition anymore, I get so devastated.  I'm coming up on a month since I first learned the news and I still can't move past it.

How can this be?  How can I be ok with no hearing aids but not ok with denying trans people therapy, HRT, etc... coverage?  Well, I suppose I should start speaking in past tense here as I'm starting to think hearing aids should be covered too given their cost and benefits.  I don't think I'm in left field for thinking that Insurance doesn't need to cover my hair extensions, no matter the benefits they've given me.

Anyway, I noticed the support for one but not the other didn't make much sense to me so I thought I'd throw it out there.  Notice any other inconstancies in your own line of thinking or have any rationales as to why things are they way they are?

I find it odd that a hearing aid company wouldn't have an insurance plan that covers hearing aids.
Sometimes I blog things

Of course I'm sane.  When trees start talking to me, I don't talk back.
