Is it as important to get done asap as your id and ss card? I haven't gotten it done yet due to needing a signature to get it notarized, I don't really know how to go about it. Like where to get it done. I'm not nearby any offices so that would require a trip, that's why I decided the mail in method was best, but then I found out you needed a special signature.
I got everything online and filled it out easily using the pamphlet to help.
Does not getting this done right away effect anything? Does it come up in background checks that your name doesn't match?
And does anyone know where I could go to get it done that I wouldn't face discrimination, that's what I'm most.scared of.
Gender expression is NOT gender identity.

hey man, I haven't done this, but quite a bit of people haven't even gotten this done after years of having IDs changed.

i just posted an article over in the "transsexual" talk page that discusses this a bit, if you're into reading, it might be helpful.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it's that important past a certain age. I've only needed it to get my passport, liscense, and maybe to get my new SS card and most of those things were because im young.

When you're old, you'll need it for probate.
