A co-worker who doesn't know i'm trans notified me yesterday that a female customer asked him if I was a guy or a girl and told him I had a pretty face. I've been getting more and more looks lately but no one has said anything. I pretended to think it was funny and we laughed about it but deep inside I was super happy!  ;D

He's taken to calling me "pretty boy" now though  ::)

When I told other co-workers (that also don't know i'm trans) they thought it was funny and were confused that someone would think that. It only reinforces my belief that because they have seen me almost every day through my hormone treatment the changes don't register to them. As one of my (knowing) co-workers put it, "It's like a frog in boiling water" which I think is a good analogy.
"For transpeople, using the right pronoun is NOT simply a 'political correctness' issue. It's core to the entire struggle transpeople go through. Using the wrong pronoun means 'I don't recognize you as who you are.' It means 'I think you're confused, delusional, or mentally I'll.'. It means 'you're not important enough for me to acknowledge your struggle.'"

...told him I had a pretty face.
It is a good report.  Encouraging.  Keep going!

So...I hope you have a plan, "pretty boy"...A "frog in boiling water" will eventually get cooked, unless she has a plan to "come out"!

:)
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

I catch a lot of people (mostly men) staring at me with an inquisitive look. I say hello and they snap out of it and say hello and start going about their business. It's getting kind of uncomfortable  ::)

I'm starting to get those looks too! I'm just trying to learn how to ignore when people stare at me and go about my day.

Means it's almost time to switch to full time, yes? Unless you want to keep them all in suspense forever... :D

Do you say "hello" in a boy or girl voice?  You could make a game out of making men uncomfortable instead of letting them get to you.

There will plenty of that later I'm sure...

Agreed.  You look almost exactly like a cis friend of mine, and that threw me off when I first joined this site.

I get those looks all the time also and it does get annoying. but you know what, look on the bright side, if they have to look that much to question, it means they found something attractive.

In Lionel Ritchie's voice would really make 'em feel uncomfortable.

I remember when it first started my cube mate who I was pretty decent friends with said "There is something different about you, not sure what it is but something has changed."  Some people wondered if I was sick.  I tried to hide it as best I could by saying it was a better diet and losing weight, which was true as well.

It's an exciting time though when you first notice other people taking notice.  However before I just couldn't hide it anymore and had to go full time it got a little annoying because I was getting stared at pretty hard by a lot of people.

Congratulations! I can't say I've been called pretty by a stranger yet.
From what I can tell, you are well on your way. Huzzah!

Best wishes to you, MaidofOrleans. :)
