So as I begin this awarding, challenging, and frightning journey from male to female, I figured I should join an online community where I can learn, share experiences, and feel accepted :)  My story is probably fairly similiar to most other trans people.  Grew up knowing something was different from a young age, tried to suppress things by being macho and all that "fun" stuff, and finally reached a point now at 25 where I have to make a change for myself.  I'm tired of living as someone I'm not, having to hide who I am, and carrying the mental burden of everything.  I won't lie, I'm pretty scared about this journey.  More so because i'm 6'5, most of my life I've spent trying to be tough (playing baseball, working out, being a southern country boy with fishing, mudding, and the list goes on), and the fact that I live in a very rural area of Florida (pretty much the redneck riveria).  I have so much to learn and am very eager to learn, just wish I had people in my life to learn from and assist me.  I may never be passable because of my height and structure, but I can say as well its a relief to start the process of letting "Carissa" come out.  Let the good times roll :)

Hi welcome to Susans Carissa!  This journey can seem scary for a lot of people (it's scary for me even though I have yet to start mine), but it's great that you are positive and eager about it.  That's always a plus.
Feel the need to ask me something or just want to check out my blog?  Then click below:

Hi Carissa, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 10056  strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister.

I understand now that the biggest problem we face is ourselves. The fact that you have come here, or found this site, is a tremendous plus. We who are starting this journey no matter how we got here, are facing tremendous obstacles. Funny that the largest of those, are those that we ourselves have introduced. Whether you ascribe the difficulties to your location, upbringing, or environment, the largest of these are intrinsically those that we ourselves have ascribed. I acknowledged and recognize your desire to be accepted for who and what you are. Nothing external limits you and your potential more than the personnel beliefs you hold dear. In fact, if you accept you for being you whatever that may be, your environment no matter how hostile you currently perceive, will adjust itself to you. In all honesty. you are who you are, and your peers will adjust to accept you.
I welcome you to Susan's place, I look forward to knowing you better, you have taken a HUGE leap in faith to reach out to others that have come before you. In an effort to know yourself better, nothing no matter where you come form, or what station in life you inhabit, can diminish your desire to know yourself better.

Christy.

Hey Carissa! Welcome to Susan's.

If your worried about passing because your tall, I recommend that you search minorqback on youtube.  She is a MTF transsexual who may or may not be taller than you but she definitely is taller than 6 ft and VERY passable.
She is also Really cool too.  She has found exceptional balance between her male and female side through her transition (she's still a total jock) but had I not stumbled on to her videos, I may not be here posting on a Transgender website, seriously thinking about transitioning!

Best of luck!
