I'm no stranger to exercise. Before HRT I used to be into bodybuilding to "man up". Needless to say that wasn't for me lol.
I did a full round of P90X and then promptly injured my back. A few months later started HRT. I was afraid for the longest time that if I exercised that I'd get a guy body again. I gained a metric crapload of weight too. I'm the kind of person that needs to see quick results (which is why HRT is a blessing and a curse WORK FASTER HORMONES)

So yesterday morning I did my first Insanity workout after the fit test. Holy crap. Everything is sore. I slept for 9 hours afterwards I was OUT. But I'm excited for the next day.

Has anyone else attempted/finished Insanity? If so were you happy with the results?

So, I looked over the Insanity sales pitch. Interval training is an excellent option for weight loss.

I must stress, however, that interval training is not necessarily the better option. The overall effect on your resting energy expenditure is minimal (meaning traditional endurance training is equal for long term effect). The benefit is largely on how long you spend doing it. It is not a magic bullet for weight loss or strength gain.

I like the focus on calisthenics. Bodyweight training will increase your overall strength and flexibility without producing the muscle mass that traditional weights tends to produce in the same rep range. The comparison is soldiers to gym rats. Unless they are also bodybuilding they tend to be fairly small. I myself use body weight training. Saves on weights :p

What's your goal in the end? Purely fat loss? A certain level of strength? Don't worry about muscle mass - you'll find that it is astoundingly difficult to get 'large' using only the body. The body likes to be lazy and will prefer to become more efficient with what it has rather than produce new fibers.

Thanks, Natalie.  I need to loose some pounds.  Especially when a doctor tells me to "diet or die."

I've done the full Insanity program a couple of times, usually once or twice a year. Gives my legs a break from running for a month or two :)

I loved it! Haven't done it since starting T (I'm faab), but my results included putting on lean muscle, trimming the abs (Insanity did great things for my abs), and tightening up all over. Not to mention the workouts made me feel great. They pushed hard enough to get an endorphin thing going, but weren't so long that you felt like you were scheduling your day around working out. I didn't lose weight on Insanity, but I have a low bmi and didn't have weight to lose.

Anyways, have fun! I think it's a great series of workouts because it really is full body (as your post- fit test soreness probably indicated, haha).

I've been really hesitant to try interval training, since I don't want to put on any muscle (Not on HRT, but my T is naturally pretty low).  I've focused mostly on running and flexibility, but despite my best efforts in both diet and exercise, my weight loss has stalled for the last 3 months.

If I want to look like a girl, I need to eat like one.
