A town hall meeting called to educate Iowans about the misuse of religious teachings against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people drew a crowd of about 250 people to the city auditorium Thursday.

The "open and honest" discussion about religion-based bigotry and its effects on society was civil and orderly, although not everyone agreed.
