Ok so I am leaving very soon for thailand to see Dr. Chet, and by reading/searching/etc I understand there is going to be a use of pads but there is one thing I cant figure out, and that is............Which brand/ones/etc ??? , I mean I supose I could go buy a bunch and experiment but the one thing I'm trying to figure out is which ones have that no stick to you surface?

If any post op girls can chime in and give me some opinions I'm sure it would make it easier on me to pick, right now I'm thinking the always brand like these http://www.always.com/en-us/product/pads/heavy-periods-overnight-always-pads.aspx
IDK I just want to make sure I got everything in order before I leave if ya know what I mean....

Thanks in advance ^-^

HI Calico, Dr Chettawut will give you pads to start with, They are very absorbent as you will probably have a green Discharge nothing t worry about It Is Quite normal, The nurses will come everyday to clean your wound and check everything Is okay Plus get you going on the Dialation. May I suggest that you take some long Skirts maybe two they will help to Hide the Catheter bag that gets rid of your wee I would not take too much clothing you probably wont wear It, If you are staying at the Dusit Princess there Is a Supermarket In the Seacon centre called Tesco Lotus you can buy supplies of Pads & Baby wipes there you will probably use a lot while you are there. Do not worry about getting anything on the Towels & Sheets as the maids are very used to It, Yes you will be scared nervous & Excited all at the same time Dr Chettawut & his staff will take great care of you If you aske the nurse for a sedative to calm you down I know I had to It Is only natural. Are you getting a Thai Visa In case you need to stay longer ???. Everything In the Shopping centre Is very Cheap so will not spend a lot of money on Different things Food Is very cheap there Is a very good Sushi bar near Tesco's Lotus Lots of places to Eat In air conditioned comfort.

Yikes! You're talking about a colostomy bag as if it were a fait accompli. A colostomy bag is only required if he perforates the intestines. One would hope that isn't very common.

Calico,

The best pads by far are the Always brand overnight slim ones with wings! They won't stick to any stitches or what not, they absorb VERY well and they keep the moisture 'away' from you so that you don't feel nasty.  I used these after having my son and they worked well so I gave them to my friend after her surgery...again she said they worked well.  Make sure you get the. 'Slender' kind so they don't feel as bunchy and bulky....I am wishing you luck on your surgery, stay well & safe on your travels!

Thanks Babz as always your replies are very helpful, I am not getting a Thai Visa, I understand there is the posibility of complications, howwever to be quite honest I cant afford to stay longer than what I have planned, some I am hoping and praying, and haveing faith all will  be well. If something happens lord forbid, I will cross that bridge when I get there.
my biggest cocerns at this point are financial, but I think at this point I have that under control.

My sister who's a genetic female also recommend the same thing when I was in recovery. However, I found the generic smooth textured maxi pads to be more comfortable to wear because of their smoothness. The perforated texture of Always kinda irritated the area a little bit. I think you have to try for yourself which one you prefer. I'm sure each girl has her own personal choice. I'm at 9 1/2 month post op at the moment. So far it's looking great.

These were the ones I used. They work quite well.

Hi Calico,

My need for pads has gone from Maxi Pads down to panty liners.  And, with the heavier ones, the wings helped, but, now wouldn't think of using wings.

For a period of 3 weeks, I probably bought two different pads each week.  It's been trial and error.   One thing that I learned early was that most women's needs for a pad are different than mine, in that I needed to cover a much wider area than a woman would.  It's probably true as well that I need a longer pad than most women.  Unfortunately, the bigger sizes also have the bigger possibility of chafing along the thighs.  I'm currently using Carefree Acti Fresh Body Shape, which are the best of about five different liners I've tried.

No matter what I've used, by the end of the day, I'm praying for a time when they're not needed at all...

I believe this is going to be a hit and miss situation, as something may work for one but not the other, I actually am using the always with wings they come in the green wrapper, and I have no real issues, I also tried the wal-greens brand and they were ok, the always seem to be a "just right" fit for me but as said what may work for one may not work for the other. :-\

Almost 8 weeks and a triumph:  No Pad!  What a relief that is.  Just in case, there are extra panties and pads in my purse.  I hope not to need them, but do need that security blanket for now..
