Thanks for the responses! I hadn't seen that suction dildo before; that's awesome. I'd seen the science articles on the prosthetics and the device for the blind, but it's nice to have the reminder that that stuff is out there.
Here are some photos to show exactly how it works.
This is a combination of a few photos. The first three show one piece of brake wiring, so one touch point. There's a smaller 'core' wire inside of a larger, hollow 'sheath' wire, and the core wire can slide in and out of the sheath freely. The fourth photo shows the end of it embedded into a rubber dildo. It's translucent, so you can kind of see it in there.

The pink cap there is attached to the core wire, and the sheath is held in place at the base of the dildo. The result is that when you press on the part where that pink cap is, the core wire moves out at the other end. The receiving end has a soft cap on it. Like this:

For actually testing it, I put four of those wires into it and placed the cap ends on places that made sense to me - right around the clitoris for touch points on the head of the dildo, and further down for the shaft. It's a little awkward to use, and I can't say I break it out all the time for sexcapades, but it's a very interesting experience. It feels more like an extension of my body than a regular strap-on does.

I actually get this sensation. Not sure why, maybe just sensitive. I could actually tell what side and so on it's touched in and I don't know if it's a bit of phantom "pain" sensation or what. I know this isn't what you are talking about. But just shows there are nerve endings there that are potentially wired to do this. I know of several people who say this for attached prosthetics.
I get this sometimes with a strap-on/packer, and for me I think it comes from the vibrations. I can feel the rubbing or tapping vibrations moving down into the base. It's kind of a vague sensation, though. I was thinking of trying to manipulate that in some way instead of the wiring, but it hasn't worked out so far.

I know someone who is working on a pretty realistic prosthetic, perhaps you'd like to connect up?
You can PM me, and I could perhaps connect you.

That would be great! Thank you very much. I think some more trial and error is required before I really get it off the ground, but I'd love to see it made into an actual product. I'm also trying a version with water displacement instead of wires, but that'll be more complicated to make at home.
