Smelling Good

Probably the only stereotypically feminine thing about me is I buy a lot of soaps, shampoos, fragrance oils, and candles. Ya know...smell good stuff. I don't like anything that smells like flowers or baby powder though.

Lately I've been buying a lot of the male body washes and shampoos. One thing I have noticed is most of them smell just about the same. I do try to avoid the peppery patchouli ones.

I'm always trying to find ones that have a orange or citrus mixed with cloves kinda scent. I really like the Old Spice Wolfthorne body wash and Lacoste Challenge Cologne. Oh, and I have noticed women like the smell of Dove Men's Bodywash. I've had women sniff me and ask what I was wearing more than once by just washing in that soap, lol.

Do any of you guys have a favorite scent? Maybe a product you'd recommend? Is it more citrus, woodsy, or just fresh?

I admit I have worked my way through the Old Spice flavors - I used Denali for a long time, Courage is good, so is Komodo.  I basically just grab a new smell each time I run out of body soap or deodorant.

I'd like to branch out beyond Old Spice to something else for special occasions, etc, but I don't know where to begin. Department stores?

When I presented masculine (behaviour, voice etc.) I absolutely loooved Tag body spray...and I still do. It's sort of tropical and almost fruity smelling. The other one I used to like was playboy Miami cologne...which is also somewhat tropical. Out of the axe products, I preferred Phoenix...although it could be partly because I associated it with a guy I had a slight crush on.

Vault, Tamerisk, and Pour Lui (by Oscar de la renta) are musky and fresh at the same time. Tamerisk is the most musky smelling of the three.

You might want to check those out just for curiosity.

Also, test every cologne you buy, since they each smell different on different people.

I love fresh smells, not sweet ones.
The thing I really disliked about woman smells is that they are usually somewhat sweet. When I visited my mom for a couple of days and used her showerstuff, I always had the feeling I was rubbing candy over my body. You know, fruity, peachy smells. I hated it.

That's why I love the sports, guys stuff. It's refreshing and not sweet smelling.

Haha, me too. Took a shower and used Wolfthorne bodywash and Axe Apollo shampoo. My gf likes going in the bathroom when I shower because she thinks it smells good in there.

Have you tried the Old Spice Fiji scent? They've got it in liquid and bar soap. That's another I really like. I've never tried Old Spice deodorants. I've noticed most of them are just deodorants and not antiperspirants. I gotta have one that is a antiperspirant too or it doesn't work well on me. I usually just get Degree Men's or Speed Stick.

Yep, check out the colognes in Macy's or JcPenney. I don't buy expensive cologne often but when I do it's from one of those two stores. Bath & Body Works has some nice Men's stuff but there's not a whole lot of selection there.

Neither me or my family buy expensive soaps, shower gels or anything else, so I just grab whatever's nearest to me/I feel is appropriate for my dirtiness.  Normally that ends up being a white bar of Dove soap, not sure if that's supposed to have a flavour or anything.

The only shower gel I particularly like the smell of is "Kick Start Zesty Lime" from a really cheap supermarket here called Aldi, and it costs £0.89 haha.  The smell reminds me of lime flavour jelly, and I used to eat that all the time as a kid.  I'm not too convinced about its cleaning powers for 89p, but it's nice to reminisce.

One day I really need to get round to buying some Lynx just to see what everyone's obsession with it is.  And I need to isolate which thing in the bathroom smells like someone I used to know, that's good for reminicing as well.  I think it's a certain deodorant but I'm not sure.  Oh and I got some carbolic soap almost exactly a year ago now (it was as a kind of jokey present for my birthday) but I like the wrapper, and the smells a little too strong to smell of generally, so I don't want to use it.

I used to use crystals for deodorants and neutral things like that, but now I use some with abit of smell in because I just dont care.
My only parfume I own is Allure homme sport, I dont use it very often but its the only parfume I ever wanted for myself, beside that I never use parfumes.

I've always worn men's body spray just because I like the smell, I find it comforting. Axe is usually my go-to, but I think I'm gonna switch to Old Spice now. The smell is a LOT stronger, and Axe's smell seems to dissipate after maybe an hour or so, and I don't smell like I have anything on. Old Spice lasts a long time.

Also, the only body wash I've used so far that actually leaves a scent is Irish Springs, and it's not 100% my tastes. Yet again, Axe left me smelling like nothing at all (unless you rub your nose against my skin). I need something that can overpower the chlorine smell of my water. :/ So maybe Old Spice can do that for me.

I was a Lushaholic for a few years.  One of my (exceedingly) few "girly" pleasures.  I do like the natural soaps still.  I just put in a $30 order to Chagrin Valley for a half dozen of their sample size bars.  I really love their lavender oatmeal spice, but that's more of a winter scent, so I'm looking for something good for the summer.  I have a feeling I'm going to wind up really enjoying the cucumber lime yogurt, although the aloe bar may be my go-to consider how many times I've been sunburned already this season.  Right now I'm just using Axe Kilo body wash, which I love the scent of, but I want to get back to the more natural care products.  Why go to the trouble to eat primal but still put god knows what chemicals into my body through my skin?

For cologne, I'm a total geek and wear Star Trek Red Shirt (because tomorrow may never come).  I get tons of compliments on it, but I'm usually embarrassed to admit what it is...

I used the Old Spice Fiji (deodorant and bodywash) for years, but received a small bottle of the new Dove Men's shampoo 2-in-1 at Xmas and have used it since...I love the way it smells, but also it's the anti-dandruff kind and has impressed the living daylights out of me by having cleared up my acne.  I just lather up and use it everywhere.

Old spice deodorant (Matterhorn) for under the arms. In the shower I get really 'girly' and only use this (and a lufa, cause if your going to be 'girly' about it you may as well go the whole nine yards!);


(I also use Peach and Sweet Lemon, but satsuma has the added benefit of acting as a mosquito repelent in spring/summer!)

It smells FANTASTIC. The scent doesn't really stay with you, but a little bit of matching shea butter on the hands finishes off that delicious scent. However I must say I've never experience the joyful awkwardness of having a female sniff me. Maybe i'm doing it wrong lol.

As far as shampoo/conditioner goes, I only use tresemme, because I have a sensitive scalp and all other brands cause my head to develop lesions... so that's not fun, nor attractive, so I stay with tresemme (sometimes head and shoulders).

I've used Old Spice Swagger, it was nice, and now I'm using Denali, also nice. The only scents I really enjoy are those I attain when shaving. I really like Vulfix Persian Musk shaving cream. I also have some tallow soap, Stirling Ozark Mountain. I like that too.

And am I the only man who really doesn't care for wingtips OR Bay Rum?

Since someone else mentioned it... I've been sniffed by women, but only when I used to used the Gillette canned goo for shaving. They seem to really enjoy it. I would love to find a scent to wear that women would smell me for, but I haven't found such a thing for me yet.

I don't like many fragrances. I don't like how artificial things like axe smell, and cologne makes me cry. I use whatever everybody else in the family is using, typically a sort of home made soap. I've been considering getting some lavender shaving soaps since I don't like the smell of shaving cream. I'm picky about stuff.

Every Man Jack has a citrus deodorant and they have some pretty good ingredients, too.

when I cared about being a dude I used a cologne called "Wood." it has a literal wooden motif to it. Got tons of compliments on it.

I don't really know about deodorants or stuff like that, I haven't tried that many different ones, but I definitely don't like the sweet, almost chewing-gum-ish smell that a lot of female deodorants have, it's like... hrrr. I don't want to smell like a walking piece of CANDY, lol!
I like a lot of smells, like coffee, fire, pine forests, fresh bread, etc. but those aren't quite 'body' smells, you know what I mean. I like more minty stuff too though.
I generally like men's smells better than women's, for some odd reason. I always have (but I'm sure liking 'male' smells isn't genetic, lol!), but I'm a bit cautious with experimenting and buying men's stuff, as I'm still in the closet :s

Being gay, I love male scents  . All you manly men have me reconsidering my fruity shower smells lol. Anyone know a good shower soap/wash that has a pleasant musk scent? I love the smell of musk
