For people who've had hystos and been on T for a while before the procedure, did you notice any more changes afterward? I have to wait a few weeks before I can get T again to heal.

Don't know how to answer this one but nobody else has chimed in so figured I would.

I started T officially four days after my complete hysto (last December). However, before the hysto I had a natural T level in the low 300's. With that level I had a lot of hair but my voice hadn't fully matured, muscles weren't as tight, and body fat hadn't redistributed at all. At the same time I also had a VERY high estrogen level...so yeah, my body didn't know if it was coming or going.

Tomorrow is officially five months on T (five months four days post hysto) and my beard has filled in the bald patches (soul patch is coming in as well), my voice has considerably changed/still cracks, I have at least twice as much body hair, hair line has receded a little more than before in the "M" pattern, and oddly my shorts are getting loose while my shirts are getting tighter rather quickly (fat redistributing and muscle gains). Not sure how quickly all of this would have gone if I still had high estrogen levels but I'm assuming it would have slowed things considerably.

I do have a question for you. Why is your doc stopping your T for you to have a complete hysto? After everything is removed you have to have T in your system. You're going to crash hard hormonally if they make you wait weeks to start back. My doctor had me wait 4 days and then start. That was only because last year I had a pulmonary embolism after a kidney surgery. She wanted me up and moving around well a few days before starting injections because of that. She said any longer and I would be crashing with nothing in my system.

They had me stop one week before and 2 weeks after for the healing process. They've done this kind of surgery a lot and have had previous instances of having to go in a repair when T was started shortly after.

I was on T 3years before my surgery, my T levels had always been on the low end. After the surgery, they have still been pretty low, not noticed any physical changes or changes in levels.
My T dose has finally been increased abotu 2 months ago, so about 7 months post op, and up until then, things have seemed the same as pre surgery.

Edit: Just to add, I never had to stop taking T, but Im on Nebido, so I dont know if that makes any difference...

Interesting ... I am scheduled for my full hysto on June 14th --- My doctor said I wasn't to stop my T especially after since it will be the only hormone in my body.

Robert, I am excited for you, less than a month from now. What procedure are you getting? I hope it is one that leave only small scars. Good luck and let us know how everything goes for you.

The one thing that has mainly stood out for me so far since having a total hysto, are that tiredness and mood fluctuations that would occur when it was getting close to my next T shot have ceased to exist. My surgeon explained that since the T is not having to fight off/counter any estrogen anymore that the T levels are most likely more smooth and constant overall.

Also, before my surgery I did not have to stop taking T. It was however reduced to a lower maintenance amount after surgery at my next scheduled shot since our bodies require a smaller amount of T after total hysto.

I'm only 4 weeks post op, and taking Nebido - the T was never mentioned in relation to the surgery. But so far, no noticable changes.

Mine was vaginal/laprascopic, so I woke with 4 small scars. They healed really fast, so fast that I keep having to remind myself that my innards have been sliced and diced a little and still require some more healing time.

I just want to add something I found humorous. My surgeon took everything out and when they remove the cervix they make a "vaginal cuff". Basically it's like sewing together the end of a tube sock.

She made sure to proudly tell me that she left the part inside me "as long as possible for my sex change". She thought they pull it out to form a penis and she wanted mine as long as possible. A nice sentiment but I did laugh.

Simon, that would be really nice if it was possible to pull your vagina out and make a penis out of it. I don't know what the surgeon would use to fill it out. It would be at about the right location and the urethal could run through it. mtf talk about making the their outie into an innie; than we could say the opposite. I have no use for mine and want it gone too some day.

mm, yeah I told her after the fact that she could have just sewed "the hole" shut and I would have been happy. Of course she wasn't capable of doing something like that as it's not in her expertise but she tried to do the best by me that she could. It was sweet of her really.

I had a complete hysto. In 2008 I had a right side oophorectomy (ovary removed) because the ovary had a lipid cell tumor in it. Then the other ovary grew a tumor and I was able to talk them into taking the whole shebang out. They did it as an open procedure on me as I also had something on my uterus and they weren't sure what it was. They cut me almost hip to hip but surprisingly the scar isn't that noticeable. Probably due to my skin tone and they cut me along my stomach pooch.

Your situation was a little different in that you had GYN problems. I can understand your surgeon wanting to see what was going inside you and getting all the problems parts out of there. I am glad your scar is reasonable. I know some women endup with bad looking scars from hyster. I want to get mine out before they cause me any real problems; I get bad cramps ever month now.
