For the guys, it is dispensed 3 months at a time and each quarter is a little different to match normal seasonal variations. The bio-identical hormones (exact hormone in the human body vs. something "close" to what our body makes) and is compounded in a twice daily cream with DHEA. Fast application and no needles!
For the girls, The protocol uses two separate syringes of bio-identical estrodiol and micronized progesterone cream and are on a 28 day cycle. I always thought the cycle thing was silly until my doctor explained why it is important. She is a trans-woman herself (Dr. Courtney Ridley in Garland, TX) and said that the cell receptors often get unresponsive to the same dosages every day and that the progesterone helps refresh the estrogen receptors in the last week of the cycle which keeps them fresh and reactive. She is on the protocol as well and and is a true believer. She also pointed out that if dosed properly, progesterone cancels out a lot of the negative side effects of estrogen and helps greatly with more natural growth shape for breasts.
The protocol goal is to keep you at hormone levels that are comparable to a 20 year old and doesn't appear to be shy about higher dosages. Keep in mind when researching that almost ANY study out there studying the efficacy of Progesterone is based on medroxyprogesterone acetate (provera) which is structurally different than the progesterone in humans. It has different side effects and many of which are bad while not providing a lot of the benefits of human progesterone (bio-identical).
