Guys don't understand like my dad

Okay so due to my dads genes side, I got a little hair thinning and a tad of very very minor balding. Well to guys that's okay but when you have a girl side in you, this can be very disturbing. I want to get a hair transplant thing to stop this thinning nonsense. It's depressing for me. My dad thinks its a waste of money. My mom is supportive but told me it can be expensive. Neither are aware of my girl side. I can find the money but don't get why any guys wouldn't care about a hair thinning problem. Seriously, it makes me sad about the thinning. Anyone been through stuff like this? A part of me was meant for a girl!

Finesteride can slow/stop, and possibly reverse thinning hair. You could ask your doctor about it. It only blocks the testosterone from reaching your scalp, it won't interfere with normal testosterone levels.

I can only imagine what hell you're going through...both sides of my family have the genes for baldness...so before I started my anti androgen I was pretty depressed about what could happen to me...and to top it all off because of my genetics I would eventually become a hairy ape past a certain age. (I'm already seeing the effects now).

I feel for you. I may be "luckier" because Im younger, but my genetics are not on my side for certain things. I'm just happy for the feminine features I do have, and I'm working on fixing the ones I'm not happy with.

As for guys not caring about balding...well some do and some just learn to accept that they can't do anything about it...but we're not guys so we are mortified of losing our hair

For you this is not a waste of money, to them it is. As hard as it is to shrug off such back hand comments...you just have to. You can't control what other people say to you, you can only control your reactions to stupid comments. It's okay to feel upset about such comments, just don't think about them to the point that they cause you grief. As someone that has struggled with depression for years; this is a big key to preventing depressive episodes.

Most men I've met are very understanding about not wanting to go bald.  I know a lot of guys who fear this.  However, I have seen some bald men get annoyed with people for trying to prevent it or cover it up.  I don't know if you've ever seen Curb your Enthusiasm, but there is an episode where the main character refuses to hire a man because he was hiding the fact that he was bald.  However, that's a comedy show and I don't know how common bald on bald discrimination is.  In general, I would think most men, including bald ones, would be sympathetic.  There's a reason that hair transplants exist.  So, don't worry about what the guys will say.

Just a note on Finasteride, it's essentially a DHT blocker with DHT being a pretty important hormone that regulates some cognitive function. Do some research on Finasteride before choosing to take it, especially without the supplementation of estrogen, some men have reported damage to their short term memory as well as other long term side effects.

I'll be one of those girls who has to wear a wig.  My hair is short, graying, doesn't grow fast (even when I was young), and it's rapidly thinning/receding on top.  Hopeless.

If I grew out my hair for the next decade, the best I could hope for is looking like Riff Raff from Rocky Horror.
