STEVEN

Hello people my name is Steven and I'm new to the forums :) I'm 20 years old and ftm, already on testosterone for 8 months.
I am currently concerned with my hair, very much so actually. I have short hair, like this: http://blog.dudepins.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/short-hairstyle-for-guys.jpg
I noticed my hair falling out a ton recently, and I decided to try something. I brushed my hair once in the morning and once at night for about 2-3 minutes over a piece of white paper. I lost ~40-50 hairs, a bunch of newly growing ones and longer ones equally. Every time I brush my hair that much falls out, until no more fall out within that session. Of course, more fall out randomly during the day and when I shower. I have a rather dry scalp now, never before T though, and I'm taking care of that now using dandruff shampoo 2-3 times a week, and limiting washing my hair every 2-3 days which is just right for my short hair.
My questions are:
1. Does this sound normal to you, and how much hair do you lose on T (individually)?
2. Is the hair on the sides of your head supposed to be naturally thinner than everywhere else? Not just the temples the entire sides; the top of my head is much more thicker than the sides, where it's soft and fine, and I can see my scalp through it under strong light. Is this normal hair?

I can post pictures of my hair later to show you, both with flash and without. :) One thing to mention, I obviously did not think about this pre-T and even if this was the same hair loss pattern I wouldn't have put much attention towards it, so I cannot compare :(

does your family have a history of balding?

Technically dandruff shampoo uses chemicals that are harsher on your skin that having dry skin is. Many people see a change in the amount of dandruff but as soon as they go off their brand it gets a lot worse than it ever was. I suggest soap free shampoo since it won't strip the oils out of your skin like regular shampoo will.

Sounds like you're balding. Welcome to being a man :)

It might be nothing. If you suddenly start paying attention to how many hairs you lose, it'll seem like an insane amount, even when you're not balding. My hair has always been thicker on the top, as well...and I've never seen anyone start balding from the sides.

it might just be your hairline shifting. My hair is actually way thicker on the sides and back.
