is using a gaff enough?

Im just wondering if using gaff panties will be enough to hide what I have or if another step prior will be required?

Ive never tucked and being not on hrt has me worried that size will prevent me from looking smooth in the front.

I use a gaf, then a padded underwear and it's ok.
But if you plan to go walk for the day you'll probably need 2 XS girly pants to keep everything inside

Everybody's a bit different and there are a lot of different strategies. You'll just have to try things until you find something that works for you. I'm fine with regular control panties. Some people use smallish children's panties. Actually, most folks I've heard from who've tried an actual gaff didn't really care for it for regular use. I read Ru Paul's autobiography entitled "Letting it all hang out." She describes how she achieved the best tuck ever by buying girl's small cotton panties and putting the back and tucking the unit back and pulling the first pair on tight and up the crack of her ass and then wearing another pair over them. Another well known cross-dresser and drag performer in Portland, Oregon told me that she buys an undersized pair of "Legs" pantyhose and cuts the legs off below the reenforced area which leaves them looking like see through boi shorts, then pulling them up as tightly as possible on the tucked items.

I use tights with the legs cut off than small pants if I need to I'll all so were tights pulled up tight

Ill look into all my options I think I may have to wait till after a few months on hrt anyway before things get small enough to tuck away successfully.

Well, unless you are the underwear filling equivalent of the elephant man you really don't have to wait for any such changes to satisfactorily tuck. I get around the web a bit and I can safely say that some really big phalluses can be convincingly tucked. You just need to try it a few different ways until you find the way that works for you. Don't let a little thing(!) like this delay you're self fulfillment.
