Hey so I'm currently in college and I'm also a charter member (basically a founding member) of my local fraternity chapter. I've been working with an old alumni friend to try and figure out what the national ruling on me might be but I guess it's taking a while... which scares me because I might be the first one to actually ask (we're not coed). So that's problem A and the jury is still out on that one. I did find out that we allow anyone a university recognizes as male to join though so I guess we're kind of progressive in that department.

So anyway problem B is trying to figure out how and when to let my brothers know. I guess I'm looking to see if anyone has prior experience with this. Every brother that I have told so far has been great about it but it feels like I have 25 brothers that I need to come out to at some point. I've seen lots of advice on coming out but I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with something similar or if anyone has joined a same sex organization while or after transitioning.

(This might need to go in the coming out sub forum but I wasn't sure if it was general enough to warrant being here.)

I'm not sure about frat rules. But I got to rush and become a member of KAppa Kappa Gamma with no problems

^^This guy seemed to do alright

Someone at my school had told me about that, and it's fantastic and gives me some measure of hope but as I said my fraternity is open to FTMs... but as far as I know there is no ruling on someone who joined and then came out as female.
