Drag queen death a Tampa murder mystery

Tuesday afternoon, Lee, 49, was visiting a woman who lives at 3911 E. Genesse, King said. At around 5:30 p.m., someone knocked at the door. When Lee opened the door, he was shot, King said.


Tampa police said Lee died inside the house. A vehicle that might have been used by the suspect was recovered in Polk County. The case remains under investigation, police said.


King thinks the slaying was a case of mistaken identity. Lee lived in the area with a relative in the area of Hillsborough Avenue and 22nd Street, King said.
