Hey guys.. I'm sorry if this is all over the place.. but I really needed to vent as well as ask some advice.

Here's my situation: I'm 23, I just graduated university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a concentration in Zoology. I have gotten four calls in three weeks regarding jobs in Nashville(I currently live in TN), as well as other states. That's great right? Well, sort of.

They're entry level positions, which normally would be fine, but they don't offer relocation funding. One of my roommates merely left and I had to pay out way more rent, bills, groceries, etc than I had originally anticipated, leaving me quite broke.  I have maxxed out my credit card in order to pay off my last bit of school... which makes me even more broke.. I no longer have a regular job, and I can't seem to find ANY here.

It's crazy that fast food restaurants and other such establishments will not hire me if my life depended on it, but jobs which require more qualifications tend to be blowing my phone up. I don't understand it. I do, however, live in a small town and I hate to point fingers, but part of me wonders if some of it has to do with the fact that I'm trans... or if it merely has to do with the fact that they hire people they know.. and I'm not from here, so thus I won't be hired. But AGAIN, that is merely speculation.. so I can't harp on that too much.

I would commute to Nashville (it's about a hour and a half) until I could afford to move... but I had to sell my car to pay for books T_T.. so with that being said... what do I do LOL

I have no money to move. I have no way to get money to move if I can't find a job. Which also means, I have no idea how I'm supposed to pay rent HERE. And is it horrible that I am also mad that I can't afford top surgery? I've been on testosterone for nearly two years now, and I have NO way to pay for top surgery nor a hysterectomy.

Also, the advice part.. does anyone know of any top surgeons in TN, as well as how to get a hysto covered on insurance? I have to get top surgery in order to have my driver's license changed to Male.. and that needs to be done ASAP, as I plan on getting married next year. (From my understanding you must undergo SRS in order to be married in TN, which in our case can be done with chest surgery.. I still need to speak with my lawyer about this etc but I won't be in TN long nevertheless.)

Has anyone ever been in a similar limbo stage of their life where they have no idea how they're going to get out? What did you do to fix things?

Again sorry for the messiness of the post, and how scattered it is.. I just really needed to get a lot of it out. Any comments are APPRECIATED

Just out of curiousity, are you putting your degree on the fast food applications? Managers there see that and they figure you'll leave as soon as something better pops up. It makes you overqualified to an extent that scares them.

Can't say I've been without a job and without money at the same time, but I've been very low on funding without a job before. I stopped all entertainment, like literally all of it. I turned off the cable, dropped the internet down to just what I needed to send out resumes, turned off the cell in favor of a voip program for phone (like vonage or skype), stopped paying all the bills, and did all my food shopping at the dollar store. I spent 6 months just eating cheerios and spaghetti. For the bills, I did try to play nice with the collectors, but they didn't want to make deals, so I just stopped paying until I could afford it again.

Don't list your BS in Bio, just every other job, have some relative or friend pad it where there is gaps in employment, say you were helping out at their place, house cleaning or living with your parents, working for them too. but whatever you do, don't mention your college degree.  :)

Believe me, a lot of places avoid hiring those who are overqualified.  A, they feel you won't be there for a long term basis.  B, people don't like bossing around someone with a more decorated background.  I'm not too experienced, but I have a great education and the jobs that I've worked will easily stand out from that of other applicants.  In my case, I found it easier to get professional opportunities instead of a retail position.  I'm sure someone would look at a resume like mine and ask why I was applying in retail.  It's likely that you are in a similar boat.  Also, keep in mind it is hard out there.  Jobs are short to come by, even the less luxurious ones.  It's okay to feel frustrated, I feel the same way myself, but don't lose hope.  Eventually, you will find something.

And yes, I'm in the same limbo situation myself.  It's been difficult for me to find work and the job offers that I've received asked too much of me.  Similar to you, I was asked to either relocate at my own expense or work weekly hours that matched 2 full time jobs.  It sucks when you get a great opportunity but you can't make it work.  Sometimes that happens.  Don't let it get to you.

Do you have the ability to take out a small loan or borrow some money?  Maybe you could use this temporarily as a means to relocate?
