I just read someone in Quebec got their name finally changed, he was happy and excited about it.
The court sent him two papers explaining everything, about how he would get his 'name change certificate' shortly..blah blah

But than... in one of the letters it said that the name change will not and cannot be made on his birth certificate..ever.

Someone tell me that's not real...please.... before I bust out crying like a dumbass.

I've looked it up, but correct information on legal stuff concerning Quebec is very hard to come by.
Even the info in the wiki here is wrong. (Unless it recently changed and I didn't notice.)

Update: His new name would be added in front of his birthname. Thats what I met.

I'm not worried about the hysto.

I already have a gyno that said he would gladly do it for me.
But that he isn't allowed to do it until I've been a year on t. He said to call him and he would do it asap after a year.
VERE nice, said he understood the urgency and if it wasn't for the government tying his hands he would do it now.

So that's covered.

I can wait. I don't care!
I just don't want my damn certificate to say ex. Mike Marie Lastname
The government said his birthname would remain on his certificate!!!!
.......I feel defeated....

Me too! But  have heard of both cases.
Sometimes they can, sometimes they cannot.
It's so confusing! >.<

I don't understand what makes the scale tip one way or the other.
Do you think maybe it's a new thing??

*Thank you for being basically the only other one from Quebec.*

Sometimes I think America is better than here. (Only depends on the state.)

They require sterilization here that's f***ing disgusting if you ask me.
I wanted to wait till I had my hysto for my name change but now I'm not sure if I should.
Maybe I should just get the name change over with since it is gonna take MONTHS.
Keep in mind after the 6 months of waiting, it take 30 days for them to send your 'name change certificate' in the mail,
and then 2 more months or so for the new birth certificate.

Arggh I hate this place.

And yes please let me know how it goes,
just send me a message when things move forward.
thanks!

If I had the money, I would.

But I live in my grandparents basement.
I have a cat to take care of (She's a princess.)
And I have top surgery coming up.
Ohh and my car broke last night..

Soooo I'm too poor for that.

I hope someone with money does it though.
He/She would be doing us all a huge favor.

I am from Quebec as well and I haven't lived there for awhile. I had my name changed on my birth certificate.

I think it helped that I did it in another province. On that note the forms say you can change it providing the proper paperwork stating your GID is diagnosed.

In my case, when I went to change my name with Service Canada on my SIN, they told me there was an error on my BC, other than the name at that time. Service Canada said I would receive a letter.

I got the letter stating there was an error on by BC (duh) and to mail this letter with the application for a new birth certificate. So I ordered a new one; I included the letter, the application, my credit card info and my registration of my name change. I thought it would raise questions of why Sarah is asking for Tony's BC.

Well five weeks later, I got my BC with my new name on it. I was shocked to say the least.

I figured Quebec is trying to lure me back or something.....

The next challenge is changing my gender marker. Everything said and done, all of this is invalidated and not acknowledged...just because I don't live in Quebec!

So I'm not a woman because I don't live there? Please Quebec, go for the peanut sized brain, not the pea sized one.

BTW: little robot questions; "What is the 1st word: Tree, Flower, Hawk, Snake:" is actually "what" and not "tree"...philosophically speaking.
