How can I?

I have known that my SO was trans since I met her. It was a while before we decided we really liked each other. We started a romantic relationship.

I support her to the fullest, but I know I can never truly understand what it is like to be in a body that isn't yours.

I have made some mistakes in not taking her seriously. I may have thought she was joking, or that it wasn't that important.

I almost lost her, and I wont ever forgive myself if I allow myself to make such mistakes again.

So please, bare with me, while I learn more about when my SO goes through. All questions I ask are genuine, sometimes I have trouble understanding things. That is mainly because I have a learning disability, so if I am not understanding correctly or I ask the question again, keep explaining. I will get it in time.

Thank you, everyone and Sarra, for allowing me to join and be apart of this community.

Thank you for taking the time to join and putting the effort in to work things out.

I can answer some questions that SO's ask, but, to be honest, I will give you space to let others answer, especially since I can't answer everything, anyway. :)

{{hugs}} Sarra, if you want to answer my questions, that is fine, since most of them are going to be about supporting you to the fullest, and showing how much I love you.

Sarra

Mmmhmm. I'm sorta detaching myself a little too, so... Yeah.

Feels weird being back here. Then again, I spent 99.9% of my time on the chat, not the forums...

Tylaker

Well, I am not going to force you to answer my questions. Part of why I am here after all. If you want to, you are welcome.

Welcome to the club. :)

Try not to stress about making a little mistake here and there. This is going to be new ground and we're only human. An open mind, willingness to learn, and love are important qualities and it seems like you possess them all.

Thank you Tiffols. It seems really accepting and calm here.

I'm still new here myself but so far I've found that to be true.

I am just really happy that Sarra invited me here. Now I just need to breathe and relax and not panic that I am going to do something wrong. Which is a lot easier said than done.

Haha I know that feeling well. I'm super anxious in about 98% of my life. I found that a lot of my fears during this process have been eased just by talking to my husband (he is MTF but still prefers male pronouns at this point). The openness has been invaluable as far as my sanity goes.

Being past staff, I think you can blame thank the forum moderators for the calm and fairly relaxed atmosphere here. :P

Then again, remaining calm and relaxed while posting helps too.

Two things to remember:

1. Sarra is always right.

2. If Sarra is not right, refer to #1.

Bahahaha... What if I say that I'm incorrect on something? Since I'm always right...

That falls under #2.
