I would be interested in any advice about skin care products or routines, particularly for us "older" girls.

Thanks

Personally I think that a good moisturizer is basically all that is needed in skin care.  I wash my face with a facial cleanser and have been using a moisturizer daily for the last ten years or so (I wish I had gotten into the habit of doing this when i was much younger).  There are a lot of really expensive "rejuvenating" creams that are marketed to women over 40.  I don't believe any of the hype connected with these products.  Age comes to us all.  I am in my 60's and I know that I will never look young again.

Best exfoliant ever: ordinary sugar. Just dump a teaspoon into your palm, wet your face slightly, and rub it in. I swear it's like the greatest thing ever... removes all the dead and dry skin, and then as it gets wetter it turns into a nice moisturizing paste. Rinse of course or flies will be your new best friends (ewww!)

And it's TASTY! ;)

But it's all I ever use. I never wash my face with soap. And I use Retin-A every day. And that's it.

Hi all,
I have to agree with Louise.  I should have started my skin care back when sugar would have been all I needed!!!
Kate, you are so-o-o fortunate to have young skin.  The retin-A will help you keep it that way.
I use Clean and Clear Foaming facial wash every day after shaving, followed by Olay Eye Gel on the non-beard part of my face.  I then use Aveeno Shave Minimizing Moisturizer on my beard.  It really does make the hair finer and I don't get 5 O'Clock Shadow 2 minutes after shaving!!  I stay fairly smooth for 7-8 hours.  Makes going out for the evening a lot easier.
I'm 54 and spent a lot of my youth in the sun, doing constuction work, it is starting to show in my skin, now that I am getting older.  I also use a body lotion, just about everywhere I can reach.  Keep the scent light and no one notices.
Hugs and take care of your skin,

OK. At 69 I guess I qualify as an older gal.

I look like the picture. In person I look about 45; a good 45. I never took any particular care of my skin until last year when I thought I was starting to need some help in that area. I thought my skin was looking a little dry. I tried a number of products and found they didn't do much. I settled on Dr. Denese products. Denese is the last name. Her name is Dr. Adrienne Denese. They are a little pricey but I buy them on ebay for a reasonable price. The most important product is 'Hydroshield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum'. I use it 2x/day. I have given it to some family members when they commented on how great my skin looked. Everyone loves it. It smooths on like silicone. I also use the '30 SPF Defense Day Cream' everyday. I probably should have been using it all along. This is the one that has sun screen in it and so I am very conscientious with its use. I also use the Dr. Denese 'Pro-peptide Foundation'. I love it. A very little bit does a lot of cover without feeling heavy.

Once or twice a week I use the 'Daily Organic Face Polish' from 'TrilliumOrganics dot com. It is mostly finely ground sea salt with jojoba oil and essential oils. It has the exfoliating action of sugar mentioned earlier in this thread and it has a beautiful scent.
