Nonprofits are told to diversify

Gays, for example, don't confine their giving or participation only to organizations that serve the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities, said Mickey MacIntyre, a consultant for nonprofit organizations.

"Half of their giving goes outside the gay community," MacIntyre said.
