I would like to read a few blog- or diary-like stories written by people starting M2F HRT. If someone could point me to threads here or elsewhere, I'd appreciate it!

If you go to the main forum, you will see that there is a whole section for blogs and a sub section for hormone therapy.  You are likely to find some stories there.  Also, the wiki page should have lots of information regarding the effects of hrt.  And of course there is youtube for vlogs as well.  Hope that is somewhat helpful.

It's hard to find things in the blogs. I was looking for a general timeline; e.g., first meds today, today I'm feeling teary, now I'm depressed, today I'm feeling better, now I'm feeling different. I'm mostly interested in the mental and emotional changes. I suppose that timeline is different for everyone, but there is probably some kind of average.

Thanks! :)

I know what you mean.  I'm thinking of starting a blog to document my experiences on hrt as time goes by.  Maybe I'll do a monthly or biweekly thing for educational purposes.  I've only been on it a short time, so I can't really provide to much on a personal level at the moment.  I will say, however, it really does vary.  It's impossible to guess how it will effect everyone, and the method of administering everything along with doses may change things as well.

I don't know if you'd be willing to read a blog on a site that's primarily devoted to castration, but I really did write a blog about my ENTIRE MtF HRT experience from the very beginning over on Eunuch.org.

Here is the link: http://www.eunuch.org/forums/showthread.php?24218-Cheetaking243-s-Official-Hormone-Trial!

Disclaimers:

-I was self-medicating when I started. I am NOT advocating doing the same, for reasons that will become very apparent later in the blog when I go through an EXTREME freakoutish depressive bout over what my hormone levels are. (And if admins want to delete this link due to that reason, I understand. There's a reason why I have never cross-posted this blog into these forums, because I know a lot of the posts that I wrote would not be welcome here due to self-medication talk.)

-I was NOT 100% sure that I was indeed transsexual when I started. I started hormones as a "1-month trial" where I was taking them looking for some form of self-validation of my trans desires. It wasn't until around the 2-month mark, when I started therapy, that I really was 100% sure. So my experience is probably WAY different than everyone else's. Everyone else starts hormones as the final step toward becoming the gender identity that they know for sure on the inside. I started hormones looking for validation of that identity.

-My moods in these blogs are probably WAY more chaotic up-and-down than what they would be for the average trans-girl, because again, I was using hormones as a means of seeking self-validation. So every single time I felt awesome it snowballed into uber-happiness because I thought it validated my trans desires, and every single time I didn't feel awesome, I completely freaked out because I didn't want it to mean that hormones weren't right for me. So be forewarned, you probably won't go through half of the emotional ups and downs that I did.

Another source would be YouTube...search for "MTF transition timeline" or somesuch. I suspect that a LOT of the YT videos are done by very gifted MtF's, however. I haven't seen any from the "I've been taking HRT for 18 years now, and I've still never passed as a woman!" people.

In a similar way, the best transitions will be documented in blogs. Just fyi if you start thinking "Oh I'll be beautiful like a Hollywood model!"

I am also wanting to start HRT, and all I have to do is tell my primary doctor and my therapist will approve it.  It is a big decision and I am afraid of what people will think over the months.  Being older, it is hard for me, although I feel it's something I need to do.  My therapist thinks I will request it sooner than later.  It's not an easy decision for me, especially since they left it to me.  I dress female most of the time.

Wow, thanks so much to everyone! Although I had been to this site a few times in the past, I was sure I had a firm grip on my own situation. Then I came back to vent about WPATH, and I was drawn in. Susan's Place has become a great source of information and comfort to me, and I'm really happy to get to know you. I'm thinking now of starting my own blog, but I'm resisting because my history with writing projects has been: Start, quit. But we'll see.

LOL, me too. I think it's better if one writes "for your needs", rather than other people. When I've tried to write for others to read, I always talk myself out of it..."oh, that's not interesting...and that's not...and that definitely not..." But I myself like writing about silly things, and turns out others identify with those inconsequential observations, because they see the same things.
