I know when my fiancee and me decided to just "go ahead with all of this" and have me transition over to full time, we simply explained to everyone in the family what was going on, how we were going to live our lives together with me going full time; and after the initial 1 week wave of shock/explination, I made the jump to full time. The only clothes I have from my past a week later is a few pairs of socks, and a few civilian version of the few army units I was in, for the purpose of being "gender nuetral" on very few uncertain touchy scenarios. Other then that, a week after everything was explained, it was just full time female

Before that, we let certain people know here, certain people know there, so there was no shock value to those people in our life we considered needed "just a little more time". All in all our whole move over to full time was about a month long.

Of course, it wasnt all peaches and cream, and a few people still object, rather unreasonably, but thats their life and their life choice, in the end. :p
