I just wanted to let others know who feel like they are the only ones who have to deal with people like family or those who use to know you. well...we all have those people that try to come back and make you feel bad. Some people from my moms side of the family came to visit me at not the best time to let me know im a ->-bleeped-<-got and a boy/girl freak, yadda yadda yadda. so anyways just wanted to let others know that no one is immune to the past people like this. on the bright side it didnt really bother me because i know they suck and are just jealous of my happiness and the fact i went to the strawberry festival. haha
sometimes we just have to laugh at those around us

Well that was nice of them.  I like your attitude :).

People that critisize you offer a window into their soul.  You see their insecurities, the things they dislike about themselves, and sometimes just their cold heart.

Those are the sort of people I try to avoid. If they don't want to educate themselves, just leave them alone to wallow in their ignorance.

yes, you do have those people there in your family doing those things to you but at least you have the advantage of having some people in your family supporting you. If you look at it that way it makes it a lot easier to take them with a grain of salt.

One wonders about people who have no problem with putting on display their utter lack of couth, sensitivity, class, or decency.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

I had a close relative years ago who intended to chew me out for not being "a good man" (this was before any TS stuff came along). He called me, ranted on the phone for a couple minutes (during which I just examined my nails), and when it appeared he was finished, I just said,  "Are you done?"

He slammed the phone down (this was in the days when one *could* slam the phone down, and have it heard on the other end)...but after that, I think he was a bit ashamed of his behavior. "Don't judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes" is how I saw him afterwards.
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...
