Been using my epilator for about a month. My greatest fear has been that skin would get caught in the parts that were supposed to pluck hairs, and make some sensitive part of me into human hamburger.

Happened today.

I was pulling the hair from my neck when the thing got hold of a flap of skin.

In case you have the same fear as me, I'll tell you what happened:

The Epilator motor immediately seized. The pluckers stopped spinning, though the electric hum continued. At this point my skin was firmly stuck in the mechanism.

I shut it off. My skin was still stuck. Not sure what else to do, I gave the thing a yank. It let go easily.

It left behind a mark that looked a little like teeth marks. The skin was not broken, nor was it painful.

I flicked the unit on again and it started up right away and continue to work properly.

Not an experience I care to repeat, but no major damage to me or to the epilator, so if this is something you're afraid of also, it probably wouldn't be as bad as you'd expect.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

Yeow!!! had a similar incident with a more sensitive part of me recently, not as painful as I expected but still, not something that I want to do to myself.

Is it me or does it seem like epilators are more likely to behave that way after they've been used for while?
Sometimes when life is a fight - we just have to fight back and say screw you - I want to live.

Sometimes we just need to believe.
