Hey, I'm sorry if this doesn't belong in Introductions, but the description said this was a place to start if you're new to the forums, so ... here I am.

I'm a really direct / task-oriented person who has trouble with mingling and small talk in all situations, so I apologize if I come across as abrupt. It's not intentionally dismissive or anything, I'm just all-business when I set my mind to a task until it's resolved.

Right now my business is trying to sort out some important information about the next steps in my transition, and I'm exploring all the social resources I can find to do so. I found these forums through Google and figure this looks like another good place to try for some info.

I suppose I can provide context and an 'introduction' at the same time so briefly: my name is Audrey, I've been in the transitioning process for about 7-8 years now and basically live as a girl. I don't think there's anyone who still knows me or thinks of me as a guy. I have endured a frankly incredible amount of social and emotional abuse from my family, my "friends", and everyone around me and have spent years becoming a much stronger person with a lot more willpower to resist stupid people.

Now that I'm finally reaching a more stable / less OMG WTF place in my life, I'm aggressively moving to tidy up all the loose ends that are still unfinished about my transition M2F and basically just close the door and move along as a boring normal person that just hopes no one ever Googles my name too deeply.

And now we come to my question here: my first reaction when I looked at the front page here, with like 30 different forums and 100 subforums was: NO. Like,  O M G: NO. I'm posting in-between calls at work and I don't even know where to begin sorting out where the correct place for my questions is.

I'm hoping someone can gently and/or firmly direct me to the correct sections of this site to ask for advice about the following things:

  • A recommendation for an orchiectomy doctor in my area
  • A recommendation for a chondrolaryngoplasty (throat chopper) doctor in my area
  • Suggestions or information about other networking or information sites that might be good to ask around on

I have all my "real life" stuff done (derp, was doing this for years before any "tests" started...), been on HRT forever, have therapist Seal of Approval letters, etc etc etc. So basically I have everything all pulled together, I'm just lacking sources and good advice about who to call and schedule appointments with.

Again, I apologize if I seem brusque or gruff, it's totally not intentional and it's just how my mind and personality work when I'm in Mission Modeā„¢.  :P Thank you to anyone who can point me to the right subsections of this community to ask the right questions to the right viewers.  I really do appreciate it, because I'm overwhelmed by all the options.

Hi Audrey, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 12022 . That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister.

And be sure to check out these links ( MUST READS )

Audrey, there is lots of information to be found on the site.  And better yet, there are a good number of other members in your major metropolitan area.  So part of getting the suggestions and recommendations is networking with the other folks online here.

I happen to be in Ventura Co, CA.  Welcome to the site.

OK thanks guys I appreciate the friendly introductions and links to forum guidelines.

Can anyone suggest the best subforums to ask these questions:

  • A recommendation for an orchiectomy doctor in my area
  • A recommendation for a chondrolaryngoplasty (throat chopper) doctor in my area
  • Suggestions or information about other networking or information sites that might be good to ask around on

At first glance a lot of these subforums seem really similar, and I don't want to mis-place a topic.

Hi,

Sorry I missed your post.

Possibly the best place to start the medical questions it the Wiki site

Wiki: https://www.susans.org/wiki/

Lots of links in the Main Page as well.

Questions go to general discussions and ask away. If you are in the wrong area don't worry one of the Mods will move it.

Sometimes it is easier to plunge on in and just post, people are helpful and will catch on quickly to help you.

Hugs

Cindy

Please don't post the security questions on the Forums, it defeats the whole purpose.

You can use the main Transitioning board, or the SRS child board for the orchiectomy question. We also have a very active member in your area who had a successful tracheal shave recently, and additional voice surgery (posted on the Voice Therapy child board).

Just get the feel of site and don't worry too much about where to post.  You can always post the the MtF Talk board and a moderator can move it later.

BTW - after you get 15 posts, new aspects of the site will open to you.

Thank you guys, really. I guess it may seem silly, but even just a little bit of direction helps a lot as I try to sort myself out. :)

I guess that makes a lot of sense, thanks. I guess I'm used to the high-pressure working world around me where everything has to be precise and efficient, and it's hard to get out of that mindset and relax about the little stuff.  :P
