So it's now that it's summer I've been going to the beach and going topless. After 6 months on hormones it's almost awkward to go out without my shirt as it looks like I have small little boobies. Right now I can go out without a shirt on but worried by the end of summer and especially next year I won't be able to go topless. Also I'm worried about wearing a bikini until SRS for some obvious reasons so what kind of solutions do you have girls because I'm a little at a loss.

Personally I haven't been yet this summer but I may and I'm planning on wearing surf trunks with a bikini or something underneath to... well you know :/ They make a few styles for women and I have seen women wearing them. Here's an example: http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/44613.htm?color=38189

I'm thinking something like that and a bikini top outta do it :)

I think it's mainly a problem when either mass or areola size reaches problematic levels, or when you look female enough that it doesn't matter.

In my case, "All of the above" plus pudge = no beaches for a good while.
Don't lose who you are along the path to who you want to be.

Guess I should start finding a top or so or simply use the sports bra I bought myself when it really starts to get awkward lol, least I can't get in trouble for going topless here in NY

Yes this is an awkward time!! I don't miss it!!

I at first tried to wear a dark cotton t-shirt.....I don't recommend that!! it really soaks up the water.

I then got a rash guard shirt...I did go swimming with this a couple of times....but as you can see it didn't hide too much....essentially made them appear bigger (and they weren't big to begin with!!)  :( It was comfortable to swim in though.

Sure it may have a appeared as if I had man boobs....but I was under weight if anything so it just made me look more strange....especially since I also had my hair in a pony tail!!

I used to go to the unmarked, secluded beaches along the Santa Barbara-Gaviota coast.  You would park off the highway near certain mile markers, cross the RR tracks, follow the path to the cliffside trails, and when down on the beach, enjoy the sun the way Nature designed.

Pass the tanning butter!

I was at a family cookout on the 4th of July. It was hot and humid and I so wanted to take off my shirt and bra. There was no way I could have done that without giving my Dad a heartattack. Next year I plan on having a bikini top to wear on days like that.

What I do because of my height, I play off it, and make myself appear like a really athletic woman, I try and tailor my wardrobe around how like a female basketball player might dress.   So when I to the beach, usually I wear a padded sports bra, or bakini top that resembles one, and some girly colored mens swimming trucks, or boy shorts with my bikini bottom under it to just make it seem like im dressing sporty. Works just fine, never had an issue. its not full blown feminine but it might help ya till your ready to regular bathsuits/bikini's.   Hope it helps ya out  ;D

Thanks Renee that sounds like a good idea, a top and shorts. Going to do a bit of shopping sometime soon for a new bathing suit :D

A bikini bottom is really out of the question in most cases and depending on your development it may be lewd behavior to take off your top without a bikini. I have the same exact problem and I may be going to the shore with the BF this weekend but prolly just to AC so I wouldn't have to wear a bikini. I have acne on my back and it cleared up well since HRT but there is still enough that it bothers me. Which sucks cause I have amazing boobs for someone who hasn't had BA. Actually people have asked if I've had BA lol Sorry I should stop talking about them.

Naaahh...I think many of us like talking about breasts, so long as it's not too sexual. After all, it's a new part of the geography of our body, and we need as much info and experience as possible to help in our lives. And we should be proud of 'em! (Without insulting those who haven't been as fortunate, of course).

Imho

Summer having just been here, I wore either a bikini or a 1-piece and a pair of fairly short board shorts..

There is not much chance I can get away with topless at a public beach but up at Lake Tahoe there are a few "anything goes" beaches...I'm still a bit shy about it so a bikini works fine for me.

If I'm careful bikini bottoms work ok since I'm a bit on the small side downstairs ;)

errr! I wish I could see what you see!!

No curves here!! The top was tight so it did pull out (or in lol) any curves I did have....I probably have some curves now....this pic is 3 years old...I would hope HRT gave me something. Still not confident wearing bikini top though! Oh by the way its Shelly with one "e" :):)

Thank you!! :)

Ha ha.  Probably flew over me!  If you saw anything that looked like the white whale from Moby Dick, washed up on the beach, that was me.

Personally I've just been avoiding beaches and pools and bathing suits altogether for years. Even if I had been comfortable with removing my shirt to begin with (which I never was even if it's irrational), now that I'm full time, I simply do not see a way to wear a swimsuit comfortably enough to be comfortable.

With all solutions, my still male fat distribution is going to pop into everyone's eyes if I dress really lightly (as with just any swimsuit), not to mention that the only way to deal with my genitals somewhat properly is to wear board shorts over a bikini bottom (skirted swimsuits are only good until you sit with your legs folded, which is, well, how I ALWAYS sit), and even then, it's very likely that the tucking will not hold at all without supporting underwear, and worst case it might become apparent. No, it WILL, if I swim and thus make moves that no tuck can withstand. Not to mention that I've still not been able to deal with body hair in a long-lasting way, and even shaven, it's not entirely invisible.

Personally I've decided that going to the beach is simply not enough fun to warrant all the annoyance and risk.

If you really want to go to the beach, though, I would recommend going dressed and forfeiting swimming. It's probably a lot better for your skin anyway. If you really, really want to swim, well, the safest solution I can give is board shorts over a swimsuit.

I wore shorts, pretty much boardshorts, but female ones, no one ever said a word about them.
