How would one explain, using the bible, that It is okay to be lesbian, or even trans?  My mom doesn't know that I am trans yet she only believes that I am a Lesbian and she blames that aspect of me on my long time girlfriend. She is a very conservative Baptist Christian, and works in her church's AWANA program (for those not familiar with AWANA it is a kids program that encourages kids to memorize Bible verses). When I was younger we attended some of Billy Grahm's seminars (I say this to serve as a bit of background to my mother).

So this is my dilemma, I need a biblical answer for her as to how I could believe that I didn't choose this life but that I was born to it?

There really isn't one.. Trans people just don't rate a mention in the Bible.

Here are a couple of websites...give them a once over and pick the best one, or parts of each...

Good luck, I know how difficult it is having religious parents and being trans...

Honestly, it would be easier to ask her to give you the exact scriptures that says being transgender is wrong.  I speak on the transgender side exclusively since homosexuality is  a whole debate on its own

The closest thing to ->-bleeped-<- in the Bible are eunuchs (even though there is debate about that)

Matthew 19:12

"Not everyone can receive this saying, but only bthose to cwhom it is given.  For there are eunuchs which were so born from their mother's womb, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it."

Also, here's a nice scripture

Galatians 3:28

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

Transsexualism isn't really addressed in the Bible, although there is this one verse that I like:

"For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;

Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

John's Gospel at chapter 9 is a person born for God's glory that the neighbors and local church can't wrap their heads around.  We are born for God's glory too and our communities can't seem to get their heads on right side up about us.
I refuse to have a war of wits with a half armed opponent!!

Wiser now about Post Op reality!!

In my experience, people who go around quoting the bible everywhere, invariably end up playing bible quote poker, where each has to counter a quote with another.

It's pointless and invariably end up with one making pseudo-intellectual insults at the other.

If you follow Jesus, it's all pretty simple really. Don't judge. It's part of the 3rd commandment. It's a corner stone of Christianity and frankly, if you accept the judgement of others, even just to get peace, you have essentially submitted to non-Christianity.

So, if you think about it, not worrying about the judgement of others is the correct course of action.

Those that claim to have the authority to judge you should be avoided at all costs.
