"The Nepali LGBT advocacy group the Blue Diamond Society announced Wednesday that 28 lesbians, 21 gays, 12 transgenders and 1 bisexual would run in the November 19 election."
Nepal was seen as a beacon of LGBT rights when a court decision in 2007 established a third gender, but things have deteriorated due to political gridlock over forming a new constitution. LGBT people have seen a spike in arrests and hate crimes against them.
