On Being Short and Pants

All I've got right now is girl-cut pants, which obviously won't work for passing.  (Not that I can pass anyway without a haircut *cough*)   

I was wondering if any of you guys had any ideas on where to get some good pants, jeans specifically?  I'm pretty short, but generally do okay with a 28" inseam.

It depends if you're looking for brand names or not. I've found that places like Walmart, surprisingly, have a number of pants with short inseams (of all sizes - but there's also bigger waist sizes and smaller inseams which surprised me but made me happy). I need a 28 seam as well, I usually have to be OK with a 30 which works for the most part.

You might look for boys husky.  If you are in the US and can order online I like www.blair.com
They have 28" inseam

GAP has almost all of their jeans in 28 length.  You can search by size on their site. Pricey though $$ - I  get Old Navy jeans with a 30 inseam and roll them up.

If you pull the back of your pants up higher than the front, you should be able to wear a longer inseam just fine. By measurement I should be a 28", but 30" won't drag on the floor if the back is higher. (And you don't show anyone your underwear when you bend over.)

I usually go to the Boys Husky section, or i'll wear girls jeans but lower. Somehow, wearing jeans lower just in general makes them look more masculine.

I do have some mens jeans, but I think on how skinny my legs are in comparison to my hips width, they just never look right

Boys husky jeans/pants are great. The crotches don't ride as low as men's sizes which makes it look better (imo). If you're usually a size 38+in the waist this won't be a good move, but lots of brands do carry shorter inseams.

Thanks guys!  I'll probably start with Gap, as I used to wear their jeans back in the day.  I'm used to Buckle jeans, so they won't seem that pricey by comparison lol; and at least they don't harass (I mean help) you in Gap quite like they do in Buckle

Gap offers 28 inch inseam online only, not in store. The boys husky I wore was a 16H which was a 32 inch waist I think.

I know herb phillipsons offers free hemming for any pants you buy there and they have a pretty good selection, although im not sure how widespread their company is.

If you've got an American Eagle near you, they make jeans in a 28/28. I've also got a pair of Levi's husky that are a 32 in the waist and I think they go up to 34 so husky would most definitely work for you. (Probably not the Levi's husky though- the 32 waist has a 27 inseam and they just get shorter with smaller waists.)

It's good to have some options.  I tried randomly wandering the mall a few weeks ago, and that worked out pathetically.  I suppose I could just return anything I bought online if it  didn't work for me.  Didn't think of that, drr.  It's not like I really want to go buy myself guy's pants when I still look so much like a girl anyway... yay for the internet!

I get all my jeans from American Eagle. I usually order online since I'm a 28/30 which can be hard to find in the store sometimes. I'm short also but have found 30 length works fine as long as it's straight leg, it will just rest on the back of my shoe.
