So everything's been going great at the gender clinic and they're referring me to the hormone clinic! I'm so happy. There's a 3 month waiting list though which I'm a little annoyed about but I suppose it could always be worse. I guess it feels like I'm putting my life on hold until I can start hormones and feel more like myself so 3 months is gonna drag.

My mum is finally calling me Max which I'm happy about but I guess I'm a bit ticked off that it's taken her 2 years to finally do it. However she still uses female pronouns and it's hurtful but she said she probably won't use male ones until I look more male. The same applies to my partners mum. She won't call me Max and it's getting pretty exhausting. I guess I've just gotta wait for my appointment to come through and count down the days.

Ouch. Your mum and her partner are deliberately doing that? It's no surprising you are annoyed. Suppressing your annoyance is not a good thing, but causing trouble is usually not worth it. I applaud you for keeping it together, at least your mum has came around to calling you max, that's a start. As for getting somewhere, that's fantastic news! Yeah, these three months will be a drag 😛 But you'll look back and most likely think, 'actually, it fly past'. Do things to keep your mind occupied, the time will flow.

My partners mum not my mums partner....although that being said my mums partner doesn't use male pronouns either but I guess that's coz my mum doesn't and so he doesn't. And also my partner doesn't use male pronouns and doesn't call me Max. So I'm pretty desperate to get the ball rolling.

My parents and everyone I know use male pronouns and my dad says "son" when I skype my parents. But I don't get butthurt about this because I'm not presenting as female yet (my dad probably thinks it's a phase). I'm getting more and more feminine so it's just a matter of time.

The key to a successful transition is to not really care too much about what other people think, it will only set you back mentally. When I first started I was afraid people would notice that I shaved my arms and legs. People now either don't notice or don't care. I just got my ears pierced today, and literally right when I walked out and started walking back to my apartment (it's close to downtown), some girl passed me and smiled at me.

All we can do is be thankful for the people who accept us, and ignore the people who don't. But hey, maybe they'll come around someday.
