So after three laser sessions on my face all the hairs that were dark enough to be affected are now gone.  This is one of the few occasions where I regret being naturally blonde as there as still a lot of the little bleeders clinging on.

So off I went for half an hour's electrolysis this morning.  The salon was really nice, relaxing music, friendly, polite staff and the electrologist was talkative but not too chatty and seemed to know what she was doing.  I would estimate that she was removing hairs at the rate of about 3 a minute so I now have around 90 fewer than I had before.  Unfortunately this has made absolutely no perceptible difference so I drove home feeling very down and tearful knowing just how long it is going to take to get rid of the boy-fluff.

In the usual "if I knew then what I know now" I would have started ages ago.  I know this is what everyone and their Auntie advises but I am congenitally given to stubbornness and always have to find things out the hard way.

Anyhow, cup of tea, a slice of cake, a shave so close it squeaks and putting a face on should sort things out.  I just needed to have a whinge.

Rosie.

then she sucks. The place I was going she was averaging  1 hair every 3 or 4 seconds,   She was making me hate my life by the end of the hour.       I recommend you go see someone that knows what they are doing. The person robbed you blind.  Sorry  :( *hugs*

Thank you Teela, I think that may have been exactly what I needed to hear.  I have booked in at the same salon with a different electrologist so we'll see if she works any faster.  Any kind of pain is really not a problem, I can quite happily cope with 3 hours of tattooing and emerge with a serene smile.

Being treated by someone who is incompetent and charging me even more money than I make in an hour on the other hand...

the place I was getting it done at, was a dollar a minute.   I stopped doing electrol tho because I was taking to long and hurt like hell to me.   So I switched over to blue light lazer.   My roomie Sour skiddlz has one and we treat my face every week and most my facial hair is gone or takes forever to grow back.   ^_^   so im happy with where im at right now,

Yah.  I am not at all jealous of you having hair that's dark enough to react to laser.  Oh, not me. Not in the slightest <mutter, mumble> ;)

Sounds to me like you're doing single-needle electrolysis.

That would take forever! What you need, if you can find it, is multi-needle electrolysis :)

The difference is between one hair at a time, and 8 or 16 at a time. In a 2 hour session, I can get through ~900 hairs with two electrologists doing 8 probes each on a low current. It could be much faster but my pain tolerance just isn't there.

I got my first laser hair removal a few weeks ago. I considered electrolysis but there's really nowhere in my area without driving for an hr that does it. I have brown hair as well so I figured it would be cheaper and faster to do. Reading what you wrote I definitely think I made the right choice (i'm simply lucky I don't have blonde facial hair). It's only been a few weeks since my first session but I do notice a lot less hairs, more patchy. I literally had the smoothest shave since i've been like... 15. I'd just hang in there as in the end it's worth it, even if the person doing it is a bit slower. You might want to find someone else, as getting to the point of no facial hair faster will feel sooo much better.

Like you I have successfully removed my dark hairs using sheer laser. Took over 12 sessions every 6 weeks to do a complete job Now i'm on electrolysis and have had 5 sessions of 1 hour. Its the single current system and the lady is good - she does around 6+ per minute. Even with my very light facial hair growth it will take at least 40 session of 1 hour. Unlike laser i can I do it twice a week for 1 hour. I'm told that blend is the best but I have no choice where i live.
Be patient - it takes time and persistance.

I have no idea how you were able to do laser every
5 weeks for 12 times...

I did my fifth.  And it took three months for my hairs to
Grow out from the fourth...

Maybe I'm missing something ..

I understand that its quite normal levery 6 weeks and depending on the density can take 6 or 7 visity. What took the longest was the hair on the upper lip and just under the nose. And its those ugh! stubborn ones that kept reappearing...
